Lost Prince

Another adventure

Laufey's POV

Farbauti was safe hidden in a cave where the Aesir warriors couldn't find her with the last few of her handmaids left keeping her safe that left a problem though. The new prince swaddled tightly in a soft blue blanket and laying in his fathers arms. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but the handmaids had grabbed his dear wife while she was still sickly and could barely say a sentence from the medication they had given her after the birth and their son's first feeding; but left the babe. "Morons," Laufey muttered as he adjusted his first born; "I'll see that they pay once this was over."

The battle was getting closer and he couldn't very well carry on his back or in his arms while he fought. The child was dangerously small as it is, most likely due to Farbauti's stress and grief of late. Where could he put the little prince to keep him safe; they hadn't even gotten a chance to name the little one yet and now he was going to have to fend for himself for at least a period of time, there was no-one to spare.

Laufey headed out from the palace, it definitely wouldn't be safe and headed off to the temple. The Aesir would only get there if they had complete victory. Soon he arrived and made his way towards the Casket of Ancient Winters, then placed the docile baby at the foot of the pedestal.

"You will be found here little one by someone who will care for you" He said tucking the blanket tighter around his son. Regretting that this was only his first day of seeing the child and already he had to abandon him. "Even if I do not return from this battle someone will come and find you and return you to your mother. You won't be alone for long." With that he turned and left for what was most likely the last battle, only turning once to make sure the little one was as safe as he was going to be.

Bleeding and unable to think strait Laufey ran up the steps of the temple, this couldn't have happened. The Aesir would have left his baby, the baby he and his wife had wanted so bad for so many years. The little prince would have gone unnoticed and forgotten as they stomped threw. Take the casket, keep it for all eternity but let the child still be there.

However all of Laufey's hopes were dashed to a million peces when he reached the pillar. The small bundle was gone, by now they had most likely killed his heir for the pleasure just knowing who the father was. All of Laufey's rage and agony boiled up burning until he had to let it out. Screaming again and again just so the rest of his people would hear his pain, the pain for the lost prince, the pain for his people, the pain for his land.

AN: So this was originally part of Life and how it all works out; however I took down that and I am uploading separate stories for each character. I don't think this will be longer than a oneshot but I did like it and I think it may be important maybe in the future for a story I am planning. Keep an eye on my profile for more stories and I may make a second chapter keeping ya'll updated. Please tell me what you think.
