Hi, minna-sama, and welcome to the first Ukyo fic on this site that DOESN'T portray him as an evil bastard. I hope you enjoy it!

Flowers

On the first week after Valentine's Day, a bouquet of flowers arrives for Kirara. Two dozen roses are nestled securely in a crystal vase, with the note in elegant, impersonal calligraphy. To my dearest, darling Kirara…

She shatters the vase and throws the flowers away. Akemi makes a note on the pad of paper she carries.

On the second week after Valentine's Day, another bunch of flowers are delivered—a fine red and copper porcelain vase filled to bursting with dahlias in all the colors she has ever seen, and a few she hasn't. The note reads, Kirara, I apologize for the roses. Are these acceptable?

She tears up the note and destroys the flowers. The vase, she keeps after Akemi informs her that it was an antique.

On the third week after Valentine's Day, the third bouquet arrives. This time, it is a profusion of tuberose, jasmine, and gardenia in a silver vase. Ukyo's handwriting is getting desperate. Kirara, my darling, I'm sorry for offending you. Will you accept these as an apology?

She shreds the note, but keeps the vase, for she cannot bring herself to throw the sweet-smelling blooms away.

The fourth week after Valentine's Day is White Day, when men give chocolate and presents to the women they love. Kirara receives nothing (for Katsushiro is too shy), except the flowers she has come to anticipate. This time, they are a simple bunch of wildflowers and daisies tied with a bright red ribbon. Ukyo abandons his calligraphy for plain kana characters. Kirara, I'm sorry. I think you're wonderful, and I want to get to know you better. Will you write to me?

She puts the flowers in the vase the dahlias came in, smiling to herself. And then she goes to look for a piece of paper, composing the letter in her head.
