the first thing i write in months and it's incredibly self-indulgent angst for the s.s. annalogia, obviously my priorities are in order.
(there is no anna heartfilia in the character list, but this is anna x acnologia. tumblr's fault.)
There was a blonde girl, a Celestial wizard, full of light, willing to forget the hints, the expressions of darkness within others and focus only on the good and pure, the caring parts. She had cheerful brown eyes that spoke of inner strength and a force of will far beyond what any would believe, one that enabled her to always do what was right and correct and good, the very essence of her character. Even her tears are beautiful, borne out of this goodness that lives within her, that constantly shines on her face.
She seems destined to save the world, because that's what people do when they are dedicated to destroying all that's evil and wrong and horrible.
Her name is Lucy Heartfilia, and Acnologia hates her with a burning passion far stronger then any love or hatred that's come before. As a being of 400 years, it's difficult for him to fathom how he can hate her this much. But he does, oh, he does. Lucy hates him too, all of him, because he destroyed seven years of her life and it's what she deserved, for daring to exist.
Because there was another blonde girl, a stronger Celestial wizard, who had accepted the darkness and reminded people of their goodness, another one with brown eyes and that instinct to always do right and not wrong, eyes that cry tears against wicked and evil and possess that same force of will, the force of will that let her float far above love and shoot it where she stood.
Her name was Anna Heartfilia, and he hates her too (but a little bit less), because before Acnologia hated her he loved her. She hated him too, but not all of him, just the parts that were evil and black.
Because he held her dead body in his arms 400 years ago, her light weakened by the gate she had just closed and ended by his black strike, and reasoned in grief and malicious, horrible betrayed anger that it was better this way. Anna no longer had to hate anymore and she could go and live in golden, glowing, eternally-lit grasslands forever.
She was supposed to live in light forever. But she was back, her face and her voice and her magic were back, with the same force of will and the same destiny and the same determination to destroy him in tandem with Dragonslayers. Lucy Heartfilia wore Anna Heartfilia's face and the same brightness radiated from her, Acnologia could feel it from where he stood outside of Magnolia and it disgusted him.
Anna was supposed to die, and her hate (her hate for him, for what he had become) would die with her. But in Lucy it had returned full-force, and Lucy had done nothing to deserve inheriting the glowing source of determination that had been Anna's will.
Acnologia had killed Anna once, and he regrets it, he regrets more then anyone could ever hope to begin understanding, and he did it once and will do it again now. These are emotions that died with Anna and her doppelgänger has no business stirring them up again, and if she must die with the Dragonslayers who now help her as they helped Anna, so be it.
He reaches out his one remaining arm, the guild doors easily beginning to swing as he touches them. Yes, Lucy Heartfilia will die, because he killed Anna and his last semblance of humanity 400 years ago and nothing, nothing, is allowed to bring either back.
