Saying Goodbye
Very, very short - I just discovered this on my computer today and thought I might as well post it!
None of them belong to me, unfortuntely :(
Captain Jack Sparrow was about to escape. Again. As he moved around the group, saying his individual goodbyes, he realised there was one he wasn't looking forward to saying.
"Elizabeth," he said in a surprisingly convincing imitation of Will, then changing to an attitude of mock sorrow: "It would never have worked between us, darling. I'm sorry."
Next, and last of all, came the one he really didn't want to do.
"Will." He paused, unable to find the words to tell Will what he really wanted to say. Eventually, he gave up. "Nice hat," he offered. Will smiled as Jack started backing away.
"Friends! This is the day that you will always remember as the day that you…"
Jack was leaving. Without him. And now that Elizabeth had chosen him, he couldn't really follow Jack without an invitation. He was glad his plan had worked, but didn't want to have to say goodbye to Jack.. again.
"Elizabeth." Will frowned at the obvious, not to mention unflattering, imitation Jack was doing of him. At least, of how he used to be.
"It would never have worked between us, darling. I'm sorry." Anxious not to earn himself Elizabeth's disapproval this early on in their relationship, Will hid his smile.
"Will." Will's heart leapt into his throat as Jack turned to him. He waited as Jack seemed to debate with himself over what to say.
"Nice hat." Despite the sinking feeling in him, Will couldn't help but grin. How very Jack.
