Coulson watches the happy couple walk out of the church and smiles. He loved weddings. The whole formality, the ritual, and even the inevitable bickering that comes over the tiniest details not being perfect par the bride. It was almost a magical thing. He'd been married once and once was enough, but he was enjoying watching Clint Barton's daughter getting married. "Beautiful ceremony." Barton says, walking up beside his old friend. Coulson had been out of the SHIELD and agent business for four years now and this was the first time he'd seen Barton after retiring. He wrapped his arm around the younger man's waist. "Yes it was." He answers. They watch in silence as the newly weds get into the limousine that'll carry them to the airport. "It's been a while Barton. How have you been?" Coulson watches till the car disappears and then turns to look at Barton. Who's covering his eyes with a hand. "Clint?" Barton shakes his head and a dry sob escapes him. Worried, what with Barton's younger children there and so many happy faces, he didn't want this to bring anyone down. He pulls the man into his arms and walks him around to the back of the church. "I- I'm s-sorry, Ph-Phil." Coulson hugs the man tightly. He'd really missed Clint but it was hard to keep in touch with someone who ran all over the world for work. "It's ok, hey, Clint, it's ok. She's not gone forever.. She just got married. She's still your little girl." Coulson could feel the man shaking his head. He pulls back, tears on his cheeks, eyes red and puffy. "Clint, it is not the end of th-" "I'm not crying about that! Damn it Phil…" Barton separated from him and Coulson took a step back chewing on the inside of his jaw. "Clint…" Barton looks up and gives him a glare. "Don't you dare try to explain it away.. I tried to leave it alone. You said it would go away. Well.. It didn't." Barton shrugs, holding his arms out. "I- I don't know what to do. Seeing you, hell I thought it was gone until I saw you today." "I-I'm sorry Clint.. Really I am. I- I just don't know what to do myself.." Barton's eyes softened. He took a step forward. "You're not in SHIELD anymore… Neither am I." The expression on Clint's face melted a hard cold stone inside Coulson's chest and he smiles holding his arms open. "You're right." Barton walks into Coulson's arms as if he were made to fit there.
