You knew you were going to die before we set foot on that awful battlefield. You told me so the night before as we lay in bed together just holding one another even though I refused to believe it.

Rain fell down upon us as we walked out to meet our fate what ever it had in store. The earth beneath our feet turned to mud underfoot. The rain grew heavier and the sky darker even though it was the middle of the day. I stood next to you clutching your hand in hope that you would live beyond today.

During the battle I kept one eye on you, which was why I saw it happen. You and Voldermort had been battling with muggle weapons as your wands could not do battle with each other. The dark Lord drove a dagger deep into your stomach making you cry out in pain I remember his cruel laugh as he ripped it out of you.

I rushed towards you as your knees buckled, Voldermort didn't see me coming he was to busy watching you die, he couldn't dodge the jet of green light I sent at him killing your murderer. It was a mercy killing quick and painless more than the dark lord deserved.

I knelt by your side in the mud, you were clutching at your wound your face screwed up with pain. Your emerald green orbs gazed up at me as I placed your limp body upon my lap where I began to cradle you like a child.

"Please don't die." I begged as I held you close. "I love you Harry."

"I know." You managed to whisper as the rain continuously poured down upon us soaking our robes to the skin. "I love you too Draco, but this was the way it was always going to end."

"Don't say that, your doing to be alright I promise."

"Don't make promises you can't keep." You said softly, I moved my hand to stroke your beautiful raven hair from your eyes but stopped as I realised that my hands were covered in blood, your blood.

"Oh god...Poppy, Poppy, any one please help me." I called out desperately even though I knew it was no use and so did Harry.

"It doesn't hurt any more Dray, I can't feel a thing."

"No hang on your going to make it though this." I continued to rock you gently back and forth clinging to the life inside of you that was rapidly leaving your body.

"I was born to die here Draco, I have fulfilled my destiny, now it's your turn."

"I can't, not with out you."

"Yes you can...I want you to...promise me."

"I promise."

"I...will always...love...you...even in...death."

The rain came down harder as you whispered those final words to me. I held you close, my robes and flesh covered in your deep red blood. I placed a soft kiss upon your scared forehead praying for you not to be dead.

You looked so peaceful, like you were merely sleeping and you would wake at any moment, but deep down inside of myself I knew you never would.

I will miss your presence, your laugh, your smile, your voice, your company, your love, your friendship, your awful cooking, the way you always made me feel when you walked into a room, I will miss everything about you.

These thoughts brought tears trickling down my cheeks mingling with the rain. I held you close to my chest crying silently to myself as your friends, admirers and followers gathered around us. Watching as I refused to let you go let you leave me.

Amongst the crowd I saw Severus Snape, who had despised you, cry at your lose. Harry Potter the-boy-who-died-to-save-us-all. As your body was prized from my clutches and carried away to the infirmary, there wasn't a single person who did not shed a tear.

Our hero, my love, gone forever in one swift movement from the enemy.
