Title: Payback

Author: Me, obviously

Summary: 'Its about time.' A random event that is long past due. Season ten, though no real spoilers.

Rating: PG-13 just to be safe.

Spoilers: None really. It takes place in season ten, slight spoilers for the Shroud, but you'd only notice it if you've actually seen the episode.

Note: This has been stuck in my head for several weeks. I finally get around to it at two in the morning and can't sleep. I will be grouchy in the morning though.

Payback

The village was located about a mile south of the 'Gate. Judging from the malp telemetry, the path leading from the 'Gate was rarely used, but there was evidence of civilization. Even if there hadn't been, Daniel would have still found a reason to go.

The village itself wasn't all that sophisticated. Small homes, small village, similar to that of medeval earth. Just like the countless villages being overtaken by the Ori.

But something was off.

It wasn't the distinct lack of a prior or people praying to the gods. Though that was a bit odd. After another twelve Ori ships had found their way into the galaxy, this planet should have been the first of many to be converted.

And it wasn't the fact the everyone stopped what they were doing as the team passed. They had come to expect that after all these years.

SG-1 couldn't quite place what was wrong. Until they actually spoke with one of the villagers.

"I am Nayla," a young woman introduced, focusing her attention on Sam. She was in here early twenties(by earth standards), and held her dark blonde hair in a tight bun on the top of her head. "You have come through the Astria Porta, correct?"

Mitchell glanced to Daniel, who mouthed Stargate.

"Yes we have. Lieutenant Colonel Cam--"

The woman waved her hand as if to silence him.

"You allow you're men to speak in public?" she asked, once again aiming the question at Sam.

Sam and Vala grinned at this. "Unfourtantly," she replied. "May we speak to you're village leader?"

Nayla nodded. "Follow me."

"I think maybe you should lead this mission," Cameron began as they followed her through the town.

Sam nodded. "I think that would probably be a good idea."

---

"No way," Daniel said, as Mitchell groaned and Teal'c gave Vala the eyebrow raise.

"Come on Daniel," Vala begged.

"Think of it as being an anthropologist," Sam grinned, mostly at Daniel. "Explore these peoples way of life."

"That or be hanged," Vala added.

---

"SG-1 IDC," Walter announced.

Landry nodded.

"Right on time," Jack commented. "Should we be worried?"

Landry shrugged. "We'll take it as a blessing for now."

Jack was on base for, well, god knows what reason, but he was.

"What are you grinning about?" Jack asked Sam as he entered the 'Gate room, watching Sam and Vala step through the 'gate.

"You'll see," Vala replied, handing her P-90 off to an SF.

"I tell you," Sam said, also uncliping her weapon. "Its about damn time."

Jack glanced to the gate as the remainder of the team stepped through. He couldn't help but laugh.

The end...

Wait...

Not quite...

Standing there, folded BDUs in hand, stood three very annoied men. Their obvious anger was less intensified by the pink(Daniel), blue(Teal'c) and yellow(Mitchell) dresses each was wearing.

No one in the 'Gate room, nor the control room could keep in their laugh.

"You're never going to live this one down," Landry laughed.

The End...

Wait...

Just a little more...

"Hey Siler," Jack shouted to the accident-prone tech in the control room.

"Yessir?"

"You own me fifty bucks."

The End...

Yes, its really over...

I swear...

Wait...

Just kidding.
