I don't have much to say, really.
Enjoy?
One-Shot
Miura Haru was an above average girl, in academics, sports, and looks. Her name, Haru, meant spring.
Because of that, everyone always assumed that she loved the season of spring, since her name said so.
But nobody knew that she hated it.
She had hated spring as long as she could remember, since bad things had happened to her, ALWAYS in spring.
Her mother left her and her father alone.
She got pushed into the way of a truck, which, fortunately, swerved into the side of the road in time. She was still traumatized by that event though.
She always confessed to her crushes before spring, but somehow they always gave her an answer on spring, and they were all rejections.
Haru hates spring.
Then she met someone.
A certain someone who made her fall in love. He was always shy, and frustrated - from what she could gleam from the moments she could see him.
He had saved her from drowning in the river underneath the bridge. And although they had a rough start - Haru had slapped him, she thought he was corrupting innocent babies! Which was a ridiculous thought now that she thought about it - they became friends quickly.
Then she met someone from his school, a cute school idol. Her name was Kyoko, and although she was oblivious and too dense, Haru enjoyed spending time with her. Especially during Appreciation Day.
They would go shopping, eat cakes and other sorts of sweets, and talk a lot. They were best friends. They even met with her certain someone a few times!
How Haru loved it.
But Haru couldn't help but notice how her certain someone kept on putting his interpretation of a tomato on display whenever Kyoko was near. Haru paid it no mind though.
And there was something very suspicious happening around her beloved - the mean "Gokudera" kept on threatening to blow her up with his dynamite, "Yamamoto" kept carrying around either a bat or a bamboo sword, "Lambo-chan" had grenades and guns hidden in his pocket-dimension for hair, "Bianchi-san" cooked weird looking purple food, and "Reborn-chan" had said he was a hitman when she first met him.
It was too suspicious.
How Kyoko-chan never even noticed that they were in danger the whole time was beyond her.
Then the so-called "Sumo Wrestling Competition" came.
Haru knew it was a cover up for something else. Honestly, they could have said something more believable - like a mixed martial arts competition! Haru knew right from the start that they had been lying, they didn't even have the build to compete in a sumo contest!
But Haru shut her mouth and said Good Luck. What else could Haru do? Haru couldn't call them out on the lie, they might break off ties with her! Haru didn't want that, she might not be able to see him again.
Haru's worry grew and grew as she saw the numerous amounts of wounds on them, especially on Lambo-chan and her beloved. She was so worried that she couldn't sleep well. She even made good luck charms with Kyoko-chan for them.
Haru was so relieved when she heard that the 'competition' was over. Then came the future.
Haru didn't want to believe it at first, but came to terms with it quickly. They were a part of the mafia, and her beloved was the leader. A lot of information was left out when they told her and Kyoko-chan, and Haru was determined to get more answers out of them when this ended.
Then came Yuni, whose smile made her beloved blush - Haru knew why, Yuni-chan's smile made everyone feel warm and want to protect her - but she couldn't help but feel the slightest bit of jealousy.
Haru was worried for the boys, for everyone. Kyoko-chan was too. But they couldn't do anything but watch from the sidelines and give support...
All because they were weak.
It was finished.
Everyone had worked their hardest.
But Yuni-chan and her guardian(Gamma was his name)..they...died. For the future.
For them.
Haru and Kyoko-chan cried - along with a few others - but they were all relieved that it was finished. Which made Haru guilty - she just sat there and watched her friend die!
And all of that had happened on days very similar to Spring - some even happening on Spring itself. How Haru hated spring.
By now, a few knew that she hated spring, especially her beloved. Which she was glad for - Haru didn't think that she could handle someone giving her a spring-themed present for holidays and her birthdays.
But Haru...she was still weak. Haru still couldn't join the others in the frontlines, or even on the battlefield! Haru was determined to train - she couldn't be by her beloved's side if she didn't know combat!
And so Haru trained - someone by the name of Fon had approached her while she was headed to her beloved's house and offered to teach her; saying that she had potential. Haru didn't know what kind of potential but she accepted the offer eventually.
Years fly by, and Haru is a respect-worthy woman in the underworld. She had started with little odd jobs here and there while training with Fon-sensei, then she ended up in dealing with mafiosi left and right by her own. Even the Vongola respected Haru enough to leave her alone if she wanted to be alone.
But still...Haru couldn't help but notice how her beloved kept sending Kyoko-chan these smiles and gestures. Even choosing to dance with Kyoko-chan at a party. And Haru knew, she must've screwed up somewhere. She had to fix it. But how? How? How?
...
Deep down, she knew it couldn't be fixed.
How..did I screw up this badly? Haru had questioned herself as she watched the Decimo and Kyoko-chan smile at each other, holding hands and a priest saying the lines which made Haru want to cover her ears and scream.
It was Springtime.
A spring-wedding, they had decided upon - actually, it was more of Kyoko wanting their wedding to be in spring. Haru wanted to scream. Kyoko didn't know that she hated spring. Only the Decimo who glanced her way worriedly when Kyoko decided on the season.
But he didn't protest.
Haru knew that her eyes were empty, even with the smile of (fake) happiness and tears coming out of her eyes. And people assumed that she was crying out of happiness. That Haru was crying and smiling in happiness because the couple were getting married in her 'favorite' season.
Kyoko didn't know she hated spring...Kyoko, she, assumed that Haru loved spring. Like the others...so that's why Kyoko gave her a discreet thumbs up when she had said she wanted the wedding to be during springtime.
Haru just smiled during the entire ceremony, eyes still stinging as Hayato-kun gave her a brief, comforting hug before he was whisked away by the crowd that wanted to talk to him about the Decimo. Lambo-kun shared some of his candy with her and stayed by her side. Haru was very thankful.
The both of them were part of the few who knew about her hate for spring.
Decimo knew about it too - yet he didn't protest a single bit.
Haru's smile drooped as she entered her room - it seemed as if the light dimmed with it. She looked in the mirror, and saw a woman.
A woman whose dark brown eyes were sad, empty, and shadowed, rimmed with faint red circles as if she had cried. The smile on her lips looked as fake as plastic, it looked like she was struggling to keep the smile up. She looked like she had mourned for someone at a funeral.
Haru finally stopped smiling, and the reflection copied. What she saw now was a woman who didn't really care anymore. A hitwoman. The dark brown eyes looked similar to Bianchi-san's eyes at certain times. Cold and empty.
Haru didn't hate Springtime anymore. No, she abhorred it...and add the mafia and weddings to that list too.
END
Never thought that it'd be hard to write in Haru's POV. Hope you all enjoyed!
