Laughter. The one thing that could stop Roderick from his music. He looked outside his window. What he saw utterly horrified him.

No. No. Please don't let it be this way.

Gilbert and Elizaveta. Together. Holding hands.

Why? This wasn't possible. He ran to his door. They were just outside his house. It wouldn't take him that long to get to them.

They didn't notice him. Even when they could have just turned their heads slightly to the left they would've seen him. Why did they have to be so blind?

Why would they be together?

Them of all people. Roderick just didn't get it. During his and Elizaveta's marriage they hated each other. It seemed like a genuine hate.

The worst part was that he and Gilbert were cousins. You weren't supposed to betray your family like that, no matter how much you bickered.

Before, when they dated other people, it was fine. It was perfect. This is hell.

He had been happy for them when they were dating other people. Elizaveta dated some Polish man, but they decided they were better off as friends. And Feliks - at least that's what Roderick believed his name to be - realized he was gay.

Gilbert hopped from girl to girl. From Natasha to Bella, to whatever unfortunate girl crossed his path next.

Something clicked in Roderick's head. Gilbert didn't stay with one person for too long. It would end fast! Yes, that would be better for him - and for them of course!

Soon enough, they finally noticed him. They took their sweet time making their way over to him. Just to rub it into his face, Gilbert would sometimes kiss her neck or whisper something into her ear. The bastards.

When they finally reached him, he plastered on a fake smile.

Don't let it waver. Don't show your true feelings. Be stone.

If he were stone, he wouldn't be smiling.

"Yo cuz!" Gilbert greeted. "What's up?"

"Oh, uh, nothing. Just walking around mien home." Yes, he had to remind them that they were having their date near his house. If he had to, he would fight for sympathy. Or at least an apology.

Elizaveta's smile fell. "We're by your house? I didn't even notice!" She laughed it off like it was nothing. "I hope you didn't mind."

Before he could reply, his eyes fell to her hand. A huge diamond was on her left hand. Her left hand.

"That's a huge rock!" He couldn't hide his surprise. Last time he'd check, Gilbert was living off his brother. "How'd you of all people afford it?"

Gilbert laughed. "Play nice. Francis, Antonio, and I got a record label started. It's going strong."

Now that was news to him. If anything, if those three would be starting a business it would have to have been a strip club or bar. But, the three of them loved their music.

Gilbert wrapped his arms around Elizaveta's waist. "I guess I should have told you we were together sooner. I just figured you'd kick our asses or something."

Ja, you don't know how much I want too. Roderick laughed. "Nein! I'd never do that!" He cleared his throat. "Well I best be on my way. I'll be seeing you."

They parted their ways. Back inside the confinements of his home, he did something he hadn't done in a long time. He cried for the loss of someone he'd never get back.
