Great Lengths

By: sakurapetal14

He can hear it, the sound of a shattering delicate heart. It was barely faint, but he will listen. He will listen even though how weak it is.

Because it was her.

He knows that she's just a few steps away from him and he will never let her go, never again. He walks along the corridor of the passage train. The lamps were dimly lit making the passenger cubicles less lively. He shifts his eyes on his right, the windows of the cart. He can see the moon that shines evenly throughout the land. The clouds that seem to have taken over for the last few nights were gone.

He is near. He can feel the beat of her heart.

Her fear.

He stops in front of one of the passenger cubicles and stands there for almost a minute before opening the last barrier stopping him from finally seeing her. She was there, looking outside the window beside her. His amber eyes softened in the sight of her. Her long brown hair that was normally in two braids is left tumbling down her shoulders. He notices that she gotten thinner making her white dress seems to be a little too large for her form. Her body is trembling for she knows that it is him standing just a meter away from her. He sits down beside her, not saying anything.

Ten minutes have passed and neither of them has said anything to each other. She is afraid of the future that's going to come. He must have knows what his actions right now will result in the organization. The wall that she strongly put up around her heart is slowly crumbling down every second he is with her. She needs more time to recover and mend her broken heart. She needs to think of a plan to get away from everything. She still needs time before facing anyone specially him.

He felt her finch as he takes her trembling hand. He knows that he don't stop his actions right now she'll disappear and he have to start his search all over again just to find the fragments of her broken heart. He went into great lengths just to piece everything about her and what he's doing is going to jeopardize everything that his senpaitachi and he had worked for. He remembers what the oracle said to him:

Do not hold on to the memories-

Memories that will surely bring great suffering

In important times, one must learn to let go because…

There will be a moment that you'll meet again

He knows that. He knows that he's gambling with faith here, but he can't take it anymore. Not seeing or feeling her warmth that he long time ago decided to abandon for the search of glory. He needs to hold her for even just a moment. It was all he needed.

He saw tears falling and her hand trembles and becomes cold. He tightens his hold as if telling her that he won't let go no matter what. Then he felt it. She is slowly disappearing. The faint sound and glow of her heart is beginning to diminish. His jaw tightens. Her breath is quickens due to her crying. He let go of her hand and uses it lean her head on him and using his other hand he hold her trembling hand again.

"I'll never let go. Never, Ryuzaki." He says.

She just continues to cry, waiting for yet again the painful search of herself. Her breathing starts to return to normal and eyes starting to close.

Then just like how he found her, she was gone. She is sleeping in his arms, never to wake up if he didn't find the missing pieces of her memories that will explain everything that results to her being broken. He knows that he is the start of all, but he needs to know everything.

"I'll find you and bring you back to everyone." He gives her head a small kiss. Even if he have to go to hell and back, he will do it. Just to be with her again.

"I'll bring you back."

Just another oneshot moment that I have to get out of my head.

hope you like it

sincerely,
