"We need a break. I think we honestly deserve a day off from working," An Tachibana said as she put down the basket.
"Yeah. It shouldn't just be the guys having a fun time," Tomoka agreed.
"But we signed up to be volunteers," Sakuno said as she folded more towels.
"What do you think Laura-chan?" The senior girl was looking down at a book as she folded, stopping every now and then in order to reread a paragraph or to let out a cough. She wasn't sick but it seemed to them as though she was coughing a lot more than usual.
"LAURA!!!"
"Hm?" she looked up at them.
"Don't you think we should have a day off?"
"Sure." Her gaze went down to the book again.
"What are you reading?"
"My AP Bio book, I have an exam on all 5 chapters when I get back."
"Huh?"
"Never mind. If you want a day off then go talk to of the sensei's and tell them."
"Don't you want a day off?"
"I don't need a break."
"OK."
They continued and half way through, Sakuno's grandma told them that it was time for lunch. The lunch room was packed as usual and the three girls sat at their table talking and laughing. As they ate, Laura let out a cough that was rather violent. Her hands went up and covered her mouth as she pushed her chair back and stumbled out of the room.
"I hope she's alright."
Sakuno let out a squeal as she moved away from the spot that was next to Laura. "What is it?" Looking at the spot they saw drops of blood on the table. They looked at each other for a second before pushing their chairs back violently sending them tumbling to the ground and alerting everyone and then rushing out.
"Sakuno!" She looked at her grandma.
"Kimaya-senpai is bleeding."
A rumble of voices went through the room before just about everyone got up and ran out.
"Hey!"
Sakuno ran out ahead of them all and went straight down the hall, with a group.
