Chapter 1

(Valkyrie's POV)

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BE. . .

I smash my hand against the alarm clock and hear a loud crunching sound. Looking at my night table, I see that I have destroyed my alarm clock. Again. I sigh. 10 years of training and I still can't control my strength. It doesn't help either that I have an extremely short temper or that my instincts take over if I am attacked. I sigh and get up, slowly making my way to the bathroom.

I shower, dry off, and dress in a pair of black cargo pants that are too big, a crimson red muscle shirt, a thin black hoodie, and my black converse. I ruffle my jet black hair, it's really short in the back and longer in the front, which is still wet before heading downstairs to eat.

I live alone in the middle of a forest that seems to scare the crap out of everyone. I can never figure out why they were so scared. I've been living here for almost 12 years. I have always been on my own. I don't like socializing. I love baking though. It makes me smile. Besides, the scariest thing I've seen so far is mold.

I am about to walk into the living room when the calendar on the wall catches my eye. It is Saturday. I just stare at the bloody thing.

'Oh well,' I think, 'might as well go exploring today. Again. When is something interesting gonna happen?'

I drop my bag down and grabbed my head phones and iPod. I'm not bothering to eat breakfast. I'm not that hungry. I'll eat later. Lately there has been someone sneaking into my house. How do I know? I know because half the cookies I baked the previous day are gone.

I had gotten into the habit of leaving a large amount of sweets on the table for whoever it is. The person took the sweets every time. It made me oddly happy when I would come down to see the plate missing. The next day the plate would reappear, clearly haven been washed.

I look up at the tree tops. It is a truly beautiful and majestic forest. I continue walking, ignoring everything else in the world. Except the person who is following me.
