She glared at him. He didn't make any eye contact-just looked across the street as if nothing was wrong. "Why are you acting like this, Riven? Do you have to be so rude?!" Musa hissed. It came out a little harsher than expected. She hadn't meant for it to come out that way. But he deserved it. He was being a bastard and he knew it. Jason's offer meant so much to her. Singing was her life. And Riven, her boyfriend, was trying to destroy it. After she sang, he had told Jason that anyone could sing like her and that he should keep looking for another singer. But Jason had refused and said that someone like Musa couldn't be found anywhere.
"You almost ruined this for me!" she continued. "What is making you do this?"
"I didn't do anything."
"You didn't do anything?! It was obvious you didn't like Jason-you were so rude! You kept interrupting him and you were criticizing me the entire time! What is wrong with you?! What did I do to make you act like this?"
"Well, maybe you aren't that great at singing." Musa looked up sharply. Why were they fighting again? Why? Ever since they had come to Gardenia, he had been treating her like shit. She hadn't done anything wrong, had she? Their relationship had been fine when they were at Alfea. Had he met someone? If he had, he wouldn't act like this. He would just ignore her until their relationship faded into nothing.
"What did I do wrong? You're being such an asshole to me! Don't you know what this means to me?"
"No." His face was completely calm, almost peaceful. For some reason, this made Musa want to blow up. "Riven, this is my life! I don't know why you hate it so much!! Do you think it's stupid?! Actually, don't tell me!! You were acting like an asshole during my recording!!"
Riven turned around. "Well, you were acting like a slut when you saw Jason. And I don't date sluts." He walked off. Musa's eyes watered and her shoulders trembled while she tried not to cry. Had Riven just ended their relationship? A cold wind started to blow, and she shivered, pulling the red mini-dress over her bare thighs. Was she really acting like a slut? Why would he say something like that? Why does he hate me all of a sudden?
A hand touched her shoulder and she knew instantly who it was. "Jason…" He handed her a tissue, and she dried her eyes. "Musa. Don't cry…I'm sure he didn't mean what he said." He had heard her conversation with Riven. Embarrassed, she looked away for a moment. Then, she turned back and looked into his eyes. He took her hands in his. "You are an amazing singer, Musa. Don't listen to him. He's absolutely wrong." Musa looked away. She wasn't worried about her singing anymore. She was worried about what was going to happen between them. But then, she realized—there was no "between them" anymore. They were over. And there was no way they were getting back together.
