Painful Memories

Roy Mustang, standing in front of the river, gazing into it. She's gone. She will never be back. I said that I will protect her, but… He didn't do it. He couldn't protect her, not even he wanted to protect her forever, but there was no chance already. She's gone. The person that he loved.

Always was that she protected him, even in war. Yes. War. It was the war that set them apart. He couldn't believe it. That was just a minute, and she was gone. There wasn't even a chance to say goodbye. Memories made him felt pain…

"Riza! Are you okay?" Roy asked.

"Roy…? I am okay…" Her breathe became unsteady.

"Riza! You can't die! You promised!" Roy said, shaking his lieutenant's shoulder.

"I am sorry that I can't keep it…Sorry Roy…but there's something…that I must tell you…" Riza took a deep breathe and continued. "That was…I Love You." Then she closed her eyes.

"Riza!" But Riza couldn't hear him anymore. She was dead. Roy cried. Every drop was for Riza. Riza died for him, just in front of him. He didn't say either "Goodbye" or "I Love You" and she's gone.

Roy was still standing in front of the river. He knew that this was the place that Riza loved the most. Once in the office, she accidentally said that she loved the sunrise and sunset of here. She said that it was beautiful. And Roy was here, watching the sunset. It was really beautiful. But it would be more beautiful if Riza was next to him. But…she's gone.

"Sir, you've been here for an hour already, and everyday you come here." The new lieutenant, Ellarina called for Roy.

"Leave me alone. I just want to stay here."

"But sir! You still have paperwork to do!"

"Sorry sir… But Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye was dead already! That's no use for standing here everyday." Ellarina said, voice getting smaller and smaller.

"You don't understand, Lieutenant. I know that you love me, but the only one that I love was Riza, but she's dead." He said, containing pain and sad.

"… Then goodbye sir." Ellarina saluted and left.

Roy sighed. He thought of the same question. Why did you leave me? There he saw, on the other side of the river, stood Riza. Waving to him. He made another promise.
