Just another quick one shot that I wrote when I happened to stumble on this song when it was playing on my iPod. The version I was listening to was sung by David Campbell. It doesn't matter who sings it when you listen to it really. It's a great song.
This is for my Pee-Pod Twin Jess, who is travelling the USA for 9 weeks and is leaving on Sunday. Remember, I'll be on the first plane over to bail you out if I need to.
Disclaimer: I own the DVDs, does that count? Didn't think so. Castle still belongs to ABC and Andrew W. Marlowe
You're nobody 'til somebody loves you
You're nobody 'til somebody loves you
You're nobody 'til somebody cares
You may be king, you may possess the world and it's gold
But gold won't bring you happiness when you're growing old
The world still is the same, you'll never change it
As sure as the star shines above
You're nobody 'til somebody loves you
So find yourself somebody to love
The world still is the same, you'll never change it
As sure as the star shines above
You're nobody 'til somebody loves you
So find yourself somebody to love
So find yourself somebody to love
Richard Castle always considered himself a somebody; especially when he became famous. He had all the money he could possibly need to buy all the things he wanted and all the women flocked to him. He was the Playboy of the literary circle. His mother always used to tell him though, "Richard, you'll always be a nobody until somebody loves you. Just remember that when all you've got in your old age is your money." He used to laugh it off; he had his mother and, most importantly, his daughter. He didn't think he needed anyone else.
Women came and went in his life regularly, but it wasn't until a certain brunette NYPD Detective entered his life and turned his world on its head that he started to understand what his mother was trying to tell him for all of those years. Kate Beckett didn't want his money or his fame; she didn't even want him, to begin with. Slowly, her tolerance for him and his childish antics turned into frendship, and with that friendship came mutual trust and respect. Even though he broke her trust on two too many occasions, she always let him back into her life.
Kate would share parts of her life with him and he, in return, would share his family with her. They were partners and he was welcomed into her unorthodox police family. Her father called him 'son' and his mother treated her like a daughter. They were two halves to a whole. They needed no words to communicate, but when they did, they were completely in sync.
Rick told her that he loved her; he didn't expect Kate to remember it. She did.
"I love you too," she told him out of the blue one day when they were having one of their weekly movie nights at his loft.
Rick's smile lit up the darkened room. His mother was right; he finally found full meaning in his life. Richard Castle was finally a somebody and he had someone who loved him in return.
The world was the same as it was before; it was dark, depressing and full of pain and they couldn't change it, but Rick and Kate could navigate those obstacles together.
Ta Da! Hope you liked it. All mistakes are mine. I have this issue with proof reading after I've typed something up (In other words, I don't do it. I really should). I'm usually pretty good about picking up typos as I write, but on occasion, I do miss them.
