The small Eevee walked into the cave. This was the peak of her life! Finally they found her old enough to evolve and join the apprentices. She walked forward and waited for the cave to choose her evolution. It swirled to a 7 pointer star then slugged down to a crescent moon. Crescentpaw was her new name and now she was a Vaporeon. She stumbled on her new paws to the exit.
She watched her friends stumble out of the ceremonial cave. First Vinepaw, a Leafeon, then Granitepaw, a clumsy Flareon. The mediceon said their names and the clan echoed in applause. Crescentpaw smiled at them.
"What do you think we are, Mankey!" screamed Granitepaw, "Sheesh! We have to climb a rope ladder up to the rafters AND make a bed and climb back down. It's I M P O S S I B L E!" Crescentpaw coolly blew a jet of water on the ladder, which was on fire. "Hurry up slowpoke! Crescentpaw doesn't want to use the swim tunnel until you're safely up here." said Vinepaw from the church rafters. Granitepaw sighed and started to climb.
With Granitepaw safely in the rafters, Crescentpaw dived into the pool, a passage for Vaporeon to get up to the rafters. When she got there, she was greeted by an Iceon and was given supplies to build a nest, and started to look for Granitepaw and Vinepaw. "Hey, Crescentpaw! Over here!" yelled Vinepaw, pulling Granitepaw up onto the rafters, "I found the perfect place, with the best view of….well…everything!"
Crescentpaw watched Vinepaw weave her nest, while her clay nest baked. Later she would fill it with water and sleep, afloat between her friends. Being an apprentice was so fun!
After all three nests were done; the three took a quick nap, and were shortly interrupted by an Espeon's call "Those who have newly evolved and those experienced in need of an apprentice gather in the meeting cellar." Crescentpaw and her friends jumped out of their nests and into an umbreon walking past. Granitepaw started shaking until Crescentpaw shoved him into saying a crumbling sorry. The three "paws" hurried down from the rafters and to the stairs down into the meeting cellar.
Crescentpaw timidly waited as the leader examined her. He said in a strange, croaky voice "who shall take Crescentpaw as an apprentice?" A Vaporeon stepped forward "I, Bubbleshine, shall take this apprentice and train her as I was trained as I was" said Bubbleshine, and then sent out a jet of water in the air. Quickly Crescentpaw intertwined her own jet. The gathered eons applauded
The ceremony continued with Flowertail mentoring Vinepaw and Cinderclaw mentoring Granitepaw. As she drifted off to sleep that night, she caught some mumbled words, coming from a strange dream eon. It sounded sort of like "beware the iblon'z cyst." Crescentpaw wondered what it meant, then let it drift into her vault of forgotten memories as she slept.
That morning, the three friends climbed or swam down to the main hall and waited for their mentors. Since it was customary, and easier, to train apprentices in groups, they had the same schedule. "Eat a berry, then we'll berry hunt, then we'll train fighting moves." said Cinderclaw, "And Vinepaw shouldn't eat a red, spiky berry." Granitepaw had decided he would try the mysterious berry Vinepaw couldn't have. The next thing they saw was Granitepaw coolly sitting there with smoke pouring out of his mouth.
