Summery: Day after 100th episode, Booth goes to pick up Parker from Rebecca's.
Genre: Fluff.
Disclaimer: I clearly own nothing. If I owned anything besides my stuffed puppy and my Rainbow Brite t-shirt, Bones would have ended up on HBO on account of the soft-core porn element.
When Rebecca opened the door she saw Seeley. He's cloths were rumpled and he had whole matching luggage sets under his eyes. He looked as though someone had died. "Daddy!" Parker cried, running to her side, seeing his father.
Rebecca spun and said, "Parker, go to the living room and play." Parker's eyes widened and his face closed down. Just like his father. Becca thought.
"How can you be angry at daddy already? He hasn't done anything?" Parker asked as Seeley waited, looking confused and hurt in the doorway.
Becca bent to look her son in the eye and took hold of his shoulders, "Parker, I promise you that I am not angry with your father, I just need to talk to him. Please go into the living room." Rebecca waited as her son stared at her, analyzing her truthfulness and then turned, with a wave to his father, and vacated to the living room.
"What was that?" Seeley asked her.
Becca gave him a sardonic half smile, "We've had a bit of trouble with white lies." She told him. When he looked in the direction Parker had gone, Becca shook her head, "No, Seel- I was telling him white lies to protect him- you know… the dogs at the pound all get adopted, all children have parents- that kind of thing." She sighed. And smiled a bit more honestly, "Apparently Parker has acquired Dr. Brennan's mania for the truth."
"I'm sorry, Rebecca." Seeley said as she led him into the kitchen.
"No. I like it- it's good, it's just taking him a little time to trust me again on some things." Becca gestured for Seeley to sit and as he took off his coat, she poured some coffee, "So, tell me what your Dr. Brennan has done." When he started to protest, Becca cut him off, "No, Seel, there's only one person you care enough about to put that look on your face. What happened?"
Seeley told her the whole story of what had happened that day. From reading the book on his own to saying goodbye after dinner with Brennan. Becca's heart broke for the sweet FBI agent. She knew Temperance Brennan was not comfortable with people, but she never thought that Dr. Brennan would miss her own moment with Seeley. After all, Temperance was not a scared pregnant young catholic girl.
"Why didn't you just tell her you don't want her to change?" Parker asked from the door.
Both adults whipped around to face the blond boy, "Parker, this really isn't-"
"No." Parker stopped his mother, "Angela explained this to me. Daddy loves Bones and Bones loves Daddy. Angela said that since daddy's a boy and Bones is a girl they can't talk to each other well." He looked at his father for confirmation, and seeing that his father wasn't saying no, he decided that he was right. "Bones said that she couldn't change, right? Why do you want her to? Dr. Sweets said that you and Bones are best friends, right?" Parker asked.
Both parents sat in stunned silence for a moment, "He makes a good point." Becca commented. "The little changes you can help her with, but nothing big would change- it would just be in the open instead of hidden away inside you." She pointed out to the wide-eyed man she had an arm around.
Seeley still said nothing.
"Why don't you take a nap in my room?" Becca suggested, "I'll take Parker to the grocery store with me and you can take him when we get back in an hour or two- we have to pick up a couple things for a school project of his, too." Seeley nodded, still dazed.
