It was Christmas Eve. Greg remembered that Christmas very well it was meant to be when him and his wife finally sorted things out, all the lies all the other guys it was meant to be behind them and it was but not for long. After Sherlock spilling the beans about his wife Greg could think of little else. The only person who seemed to see his pain was molly. Dear sweet butter wouldn't melt molly. Molly and Greg had always been close even before Sherlock came along in fact it was molly who introduced Greg to Sherlock and so started there odd friendship. He had always had a soft spot for molly and that night when she walked in looking well…amazing he could not help but feel envious that her hart belonged to Sherlock. Sherlock never appreciated her, all the little favours that she did for him all the times she would go days without sleeping just because he had not come home with not even an ounce of appreciation from him. And then he went and did it didn't he. He had to push it, to embarrass her in front of everyone just because she wrapped his gift nicely it infuriated Greg that he treated her this way but what could he do. He decided it was time for another drink and headed to the kitchen. Molly's eyes caught him as he left and she slowly made her way over to him battling the looks from Sherlock.

"Hey Greg you okay? You know after what Sherlock said?" molly said in a calm and comforting voice. Greg said nothing he just looked down at his glass and swirled the whisky around inside before downing it in one and turning to face her as he poured another. Molly looked at him with concern. Greg was never much of a drinker well not that she had seen anyway.

"I'm…I'm okay..." Greg replied. He didn't even seem sure of his answer. Molly moved closer to him and put her had in his shoulder.

"Its okay don't worry about it you guys will sort it you always do." Molly smiled at him in a way that let him know that she hated that he always went back to her when she did this.

"That's the thing molly. I don't want to any more I have had enough" he said as he downed another glass and placed it on the side. "I love her so much molly I really do but I can't keep doing this." Molly stood back from him and smiled again.

"Then you know what you have to do don't you?" she gave him one more glance before returning to the others. Greg watched her go in a way he never had before. He shook his head and poured another drink before going back and putting on a brave face. When Greg got back into the living room molly way the first person who he saw she was laughing and joking the way she always did. She noticed him staring at her and smiled in embarrassment.

"Right it's getting late I should be getting back" molly said cheerily as she grabbed her coat.

"Yeah I should be off to, long drive to Dorset tomorrow." Greg said sceptically. Molly frowned at him as he passed her to get his coat. Molly and Greg said goodbye to everyone as Greg held the door open for molly her smile faded as she left.

Greg and molly were stood in the street outside 221b waiting for a cab.

"You are really still going to Dorset?!" molly questioned.

"Yeah…I...I guess so. Why?" Greg replied as he looked at the floor.

"Even after what she did to you! Why! I thought you said you were done with all of that!?" I slight rage was brimming in molly's voice in a way Greg had never heard before.

"I love her molly!" Greg said half shouting. Molly was slightly taken back by this. "I'm sorry molly it's just all this" Greg said in shame "it's okay. Look why don't we grab a coffee and we can talk this thing over. There is no point dwelling on it by yourself now is there" molly said putting her arm round him and smiling. Gregg nodded as they got into a cab together.
