'Twas the Night Before Christmas - DS9 style
By Admiral Ael Danks
'Twas the night before Christmas and the season cheer
Had reached all on-station but Doctor Bashir
There wasn't a reason that people could see
He was just depressed, very unnaturally
His patients were taken from their biobeds
And sent back out to party with all the Feds
Forgoing the ritual of a nightcap
Jules and teddy layed down for a nap
When out on the hull there arose such a clatter
He threw a book out at the source of the matter
The racket persisted, he opened one eye
"Can't a guy sleep? Can you tell me why?"
But what to his questioning eyes should appear?
"Bloody hell! I swear I just saw eight reindeer!"
Julian called Ops, and asked to conferr
"A sleigh on the roof? But it's cold out there, sir!"
"Doctor, I don't think you're feeling quite right
Perhaps you should visit your medbay tonight."
"Well never mind Nerys, but thanks for your help."
He closed down the commline and gave out a yelp
For there in his room, putting gifts on a shelf
Was Santa Claus, and his favorite sidekick elf
His eyes, how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!
Jules kicked himself and yelled "Now I'm seein' fairies!"
And Santa Claus stared, and then let out a laugh
"Jules," said he, "please switch to decaf."
Then Julian, wide-eyed with wonder and fear,
Asked Santa Claus, "How the hell did you get here?"
"It's one of my secrets, but if you must know
The wormhole is quicker than sleigh without snow."
And into his hands he delivered a gift
"It's for you and Dax, if you get my drift."
And for Kukalaka he gave him a bow
"A chap like him should wear it 'round the neck, though."
Then out of the sack, he took another one
And handed it over, "This one's from your Mum."
"And here's from your father, and your Uncle Jack."
Out of the bag, more presents he unpacked
Then after the gift-giving went on awhile
The gifts on the floor made a five-foot-tall pile
And the doctor sat in the midst of them and cried
He'd never before had so much set aside
He grabbed Kukalaka, continued to bawl
"Why didn't they tell me? And they loved me, all?"
He looked up and turned to thank ol' Mister Claus
But Santa was gone, in one moment's pause
He looked 'round for Santa, but he wasn't there
To the Promenade he ran, and stood on the stair
And past the big windows, the reindeer did fly
And Jules saw Santa Claus waving good-bye
But as sleigh did depart, there was shouted a line
"Merry Christmas to all on station D-S-Nine!"
