Dean makes Cas watch Forrest Gump for the millionth time.

Castiel watched.

He knew the exact moment when the first tear would roll down Dean's cheek.

He watched and waited. And he was right.

Sat with his legs folded underneath him, his elbows rested on his knees and his hands cupped round his chin, Dean stared at the television.
The first few times they had watched the movie together, he fought hard against inevitable tears. And made his excuses if they came anyway.

Near the end, Dean would always look over at Castiel with a knowing smile on his face. Because he knew that Cas understood the movie.
The man who was certified stupid to the rest of the world, the man that ran for no reason whatsoever, the man that did things that may not have seemed right to anyone else but felt right in his heart.
Castiel could relate.

When the movie was over, Dean would stand to turn the television off and retrieve his DVD. His face still stained with tears.

"Bedtime, buddy." He'd say, giving Cas a pat on the shoulder. Usually the angel would nod, bid farewell to the hunter and leave him to sleep. But this time, realisation hit him. He finally understood.
Like, really understood.

"Dean." The angel made his way over to the older Winchester, making sure not to invade his personal space.
He knew how much Dean hated that.

"Is there a problem?" The hunter asked with a small frown, Cas' unexpected change in routine shocking him slightly.

"No... I mean. It's only a problem if you overreact." Castiel stated.
A smile appeared on Dean's lips, only Cas could say something like that and get away with it.

"So... You gonna tell me what it is?" Dean asked, sitting on the edge of the cheap motel bed to remove his shoes. Keeping his eyes fixed on the angel in front on him.

"Stand up." Cas almost demanded, his face as solid as always.
Dean shrugged and stood up, opening his arms as if to say 'lay it on me.'.

So he did.
Castiel stepped forward, invading Dean's personal space. The Angel's incredible blue eyes met the hunter's own green eyes.
Not really sure how to go about it, Cas rested his hands on the man's shoulders and leaned up, pressing his lips flat against Dean's.

Shocked, Dean's first reaction was to shove Castiel away from him. His head was swimming.
He stared across at the angel who's face was a shade short of tomato.
"What was that?" Dean asked, he didn't mean for it to sound so angry, he wasn't angry.

"I... I am extremely sorry, Dean. I just thought..." Cas couldn't help but feel a violent pain shoot through his chest due to the hunter's reaction.

Dean slowly shook his head and reached out to hold the angel at arms length. "Cas. You know I love you, more than anything. But you're not... You don't understand..." Dean knew what he wanted to say but he couldn't handle the heartbroken expression already on Cas' face and this would only make it worse.

The angel straightened up and stared at the other man. His eyes almost seemed to glisten as he once again invaded his personal space.

Then Castiel said something that would change his and Dean's lives forever.

"I'm not a smart man but I know what love is."
