I watch as you glide across the floor, his arms tightly around your waist as he keeps you just off the ground. Your smile is just as sweet as I remember, shining bright at him as you two dance in small circles. He holds you close, I can see everything in his eyes. How he believes you are his, that he could keep you.
Have you told him yet, My Dear, that he can't touch you? Is he like the rest? So hopeful that they are the one to capture your heart? Does he know what will happen when the night is through? How like a wraith you will fade from his arms, and when he turns to search for you your eyes will have changed. And like a mask you don to hide your face, he will be unable to recognize you.
Does he know about all those who have loved you before? Did you tell him what happens when we all get to the sad part? Will he hold on a bit too long, hoping to save his broken heart?
How well you have hidden your secrets. Are your eyes still just as bright, outshining the stars only to dim with the morning light?
My feet make no sound as I circle the dance floor, my sight never leaving the two of you. Does he believe all of your promises? Thinking his ring will grace your hand for longer than the rest? Have you told him he had lost you long ago?
My Dear, have you made him understand that he can never have you? That no one could ever have you…
If I could never have you.
Author's Note: Ok very short, but over the weekend I was getting ready to go shopping and listening to the song "Wisteria" by Dan Fogelberg and this idea came to my head. But I have only now had time to write it. If you have heard the song I'm sure a few of the lines in here sound familiar. I wasn't trying to do a song-fic, but some of the lines woked well so I tweeked them a bit to fit.
Ok make of it what ya will, just had a quick idea and had to write it out.
Disclaimer: I own nothing, not Labyrinth or the wonderful song Wisteria.
