This room, silent, waiting to trap a soul in its emptiness. The water that covered the floor was undisturbed. In the water, one could see a reflection. It was never one's self. The distance was hidden, it was not there. You would look out, and what you saw would slowly fade away. If one would wander, they would find the single dying tree that had always cried out on its small haven of land, far from those reflections. And so it had hidden there. And so it had died. It no longer calls to those souls in the water that I see in my reflection; instead, it is silenced. And upon that tree is where I sit, waiting for another to find me.
Conk! Conk! Conk!
"Yeouch!" a young boy yelped as he sprang from his wooden bed and rubbed his head. "Who's there? Can't a boy get any sleep?" he called out, moving his eyes around the room, trying to adjust to the light. He looked upward and saw a blue glowing ball, with wings that flapped up and down directly in front of his face. The boy fell off his bed in surprise and the strange glowing ball yelled obnoxiously loud at him: "HEY! LISTEN!"
The young boy plugged his pointy ears and he finally could see clearer what this screaming thing was. "H-Hey! Are you a-a…?" he sputtered.
"YEAH BOI. IMA FAIRY." The thing said, disgruntled.
The boy rubbed his eyes in astonishment. "I-I finally get a fairy! B-But, the Kokiri always teased me about always being the no-fairy boy…" The bothersome fairy flung itself toward the boy again, attempting to shut him up. "WHAT'D I JUST SAY? HEY! LISTEN!" the boy crawled back upon his bed and unruffled his green tunic and his ruffly blond hair. He had a feeling there was a lecture coming up. "I, the fairy that stands- er…FLOATS...before you, have been assigned by the Great Deku Tree to be your guardian! My name is Navi and you'd better get used to having me around, bucko! And don't go starring at me all wide-eyed just because I'm a girl." She said, fluttering over to his head and sitting down upon it. "Now, tell me a little about yourself, kid. But don't make your introduction lengthy. I'm not here to listen to life stories." He stood up, with the fairy still sitting on his head, and cleared his throat. "I AM LINK!" he announced, striking a heroic pose, whipping his floppy green hat into the air. Navi flew off his head and spun around. "Good enough for me, mister ego. We'd better get the basics down first before we head out."
Link stopped. "Head out? Where? To go shopping?" Navi flung herself again at Link, stopping right before his nose, "No, you pointy-eared nimrod! We have to get the basics down of FIGHTING! The Great Deku Tree said he needed your help!" Link grabbed a pot on the wall and held it over his head.
"AACK! NO! DON'T KILL ME! I'M WON'T BE ANNOYING, HONEST!" Link tossed the pot directly over Navi's head and it shattered on the wall. A few green and red rupees flew out of it and Link quickly picked them up. "Hey, can't go adventuring without any cash!" The two walked out of the house and climbed down the ladder out of Link's oddly shaped tree house. He had drawn little pictures on the side of it of himself and a fairy just resembling Navi fighting Godzilla. They then headed off towards the Lost Woods, marking the grass underneath them with the beginning of their journey.
