She ran away. She couldn't suffer it anymore. This case had been so close. All those memories came back to her mind. The shooting. The feeling how the bullet burned in her chest. When she came into the empty hallway, she threw a jacket, badge and gun. She slumped to the ground and started to cry. Castle ran after her. He slowly opened the door. When he saw her, he closed the door behind him and knelt beside her. He put his hand on her back and stroked it. He took her injured hand and looked at her wrist.
"I'll take you home, come," he said quietly. Kate did nothing, just lifted. Castle picked up her things from the floor and grabbed her hand. He led her to her car.
"Where are your keys?" he asked. Kate handed them to him. They got together in the car and Rick drove her to her apartment. Kate was silent the whole time. She couldn't say a word. She felt embarrassed. He saw her collapsed. How could she endure it?
When they came to her apartment. They sat together on the couch. Tears still flowed from her eyes. She didn't look in his eyes. She knew that if she did, she would cry even more. Rick took her injured wrist and gently treated it. Then he dissolved the hair that fell to her shoulders.
"Go take a bath," said Rick. Kate obeyed him and went to the bathroom. She turned on water and sat on the bath tub. Meanwhile Rick went into her bedroom and took out of the closet shirt and panties from the drawer. He went to the bathroom door and knocked. He went there and threw stuffs on the ground. Kate sat in the bathtub and blood dripping from her wrist.
"What happened? You did it purposely? "he asked and checked her hand.
"No. I didn't do it purposely. It happened to me yesterday, "whispered Kate. Rick asked her to continue.
"I drank. Whiskey. Lots of whiskey. I was drunk. Memories of the shooting started come to my mind. The shot and everything, "she said and her eyes was filling with tears.
"Wait. Do you remember any of this? "
"I remember everything," she whispered.
"Including what I said?" He asked. Kate nodded.
"I'm sorry. Please don't leave me alone, "she begged Kate and began to cry again. Rick pulled her to him and hugged her.
"I'll make dinner. You can do it alone, "he smiled at her and wiped her tears. Then he kissed her on the cheek and left. Kate bathed, dressed in T-shirt and panties and went to him. He served dinner on the table. They sat down together at the table and ate. After dinner Kate put the dishes to the dishwasher. They sat together on the couch. Outside drove an beeping ambulance. Kate was frightened and her body was shaking. Rick sat closer to her and stroked her hair. He wanted to help her. Do anything to help her. He hugged her. Kate stopped shaking and closed her eyes. After a moment she fell asleep. He took her body into his arms and carried her to the bedroom. He put her to bed and covered her with blanket.
"Are you mad at me? Because I didn't say that I remember everything, "she whispered.
"I didn't want to wake you. I'm not angry at you. I just want to ask you, do you feel the same?"
"Yeah. I love you, "she said," I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry, "she cried and bowed her head. Rick quickly hugged her and then he quickly kissed her. Kate was surprised. She pulled away from him and smiled.
"I'll stay here with you. I love you, "he said and kissed her again.
At night they slept side by side in bed. Rick hugged Kate round her waist. She slept peacefully through the night. In the morning she was on the bottom. She didn't know how to go on, but thanks to Rick now she felt safe and happy. Castle couldn't believe that they are finally together. Both knew that they will stay and be together. Always.
