I know this is really short, but I always make prologues really short. Real chapters will be much longer. Anyways, this was just an idea I came up with while sitting bored in class one day-I'm rather fond of the idea that Finland isn't as helpless as he seems. That's why I'm putting down a little role reversal here-his personality won't change, but his other side will show through more from time to time.

Oh, and did I mention it's FinSu? Yes, you heard right. FinSu.

Anyways, this is just to set the stage for the story.

A small group of young men trudged through the knee-deep snow of rural Finland late on a midwinter night. The oldest, Eduard, held a dim lantern up into the frigid air for light. He hugged his long, down coat close to his body as his nearly frostbitten hands involuntarily shook on the lantern's metal grip. Toris, the tallest of the group, was shivering uncontrollably, his deep green eyes flashing from side to side nervously. He sported dark brown hair completely matted with snowflakes.

"Eduard, we can't keep searching much longer. It's been nearly two weeks...we're not going to find him." he breathed, heat escaping into small clouds on his breath.

"No, we will!" Eduard exclaimed. "He's still alright. He has to be. After all, he knows the snow better than any of us. I'm not giving up just yet."

The Lithuanian looked at him sympathetically, eyes filled with worry and exasperation.

"I know he was your best friend, but it's time to face the facts-Tino's not coming back. If nothing else, he's surely frozen to death out there by now.

The small figure beside him nodded his head.

"Toris is right, if we don't go back soon, we'll get lost too."

"You too, Raivis? Do none of you people care?"

Yes, Eduard was quite shaken up. The Finn had disappeared without a trace a little over a week and a half ago after driving home from one of his dinner parties. At first, they just thought he had gone to visit a friend or something, but when there was no sign of him for three days, it was clear that something was awry. They sent out search party after search party, but everyone had eventually given up, even the police. Yet still, Eduard pressed on stubbornly, unwilling to let go of the man he had grown up with like a brother.

"Of course we do, but I think you know as well as we do that it's a lost cause."

"Stop talking about him like he's dead!"

"But-"

"STOP!" he snapped, sending the others an icy glare.

Raivis and Toris exchanged glances.

"I'm sorry Eduard," Raivis began softly, "But he is. No one goes missing in this weather and makes it out alive. Not even Tino."

A frozen tear ran down the Estonian's cheek, but he remained silent. Words weren't needed- the tense look on his face and his quivering lip gave away his hidden pain and confliction.

"Come on, I think it's time we return home." Toris said, putting an arm around his back and guiding him back to the car.

That was the night that everything changed.

What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Please review, it's important to how the story will turn out (or if it will be continued.)
