Tears And Comfort

Don sat straight up in his bed. Cold sweat feel down his face, mixed with hot tears. He looked around his room. His heart beating so fast he could feel it. Don breathed in deeply. Trying to calm himself. "Just a dream Donatello. Just a terrible, terrible dream." He told him self. But still. He thought. The purple masked turtle got up slowly and walked to his bedroom door. He quietly opened it and tip toed out. Still the same. He thought as he looked about the lair. He quickly walked over to Leo's room. Don looked in on his oldest brother. He breathed a sigh of relief. Still alive, not blind. He thought as he crept up the stairs to look in on Mikey. The orange masked turtle waved both hands in the air and spoke In his sleep. "Thank you! Thank you!" Don smiled. Still a goof ball, and he still has both arms. He walked down the hall to Raph's room. Loud snoring greeted him. He rolled over to face Don, though still asleep. "Gonna *snore* get tem for tat *snore* one" he mumbled. Don smiled. Still has both eyes. Still beats up purple dragons in his sleep. Don sighed inwardly. One more stop. He inched his way down the stairs and to his father's door. He quickly peeked in. A smile spread across his face once more. Still there. Still….Alive.

Don made his way back to his room. "So at it again are we?" Don jumped. He spun around to face Leo. "I-I don't know what you mean. I was..uh.. getting some.. water. That's it Water! I was just getting some water." He stammered. Leo smiled. "That may work with Mikey but you can't fool me Don. What's going on? Ever since we got rid of Draco every night you've been up to look in on everyone." He said. Donatello sighed and sat down on his bed. Leo sat next to him. He was silent for a moment. Leo looked at him with concern. "Well?" he asked. Don gulped. "Well when we were all separated…. I-I was sent thirty years into the future. It was a horrible, horrible future…..I-I… negh." He tried to fight back the tears but they still came. Leo put his arm around his shoulder. "Its ok Don you can tell me." He said calmly. Don looked up at his brother. "It was as if I had been gone for that long…. You guys had terrible scars. Shredder… He.. he ruled the world. Master Splinter was dead. Raph was missing an eye, Mickey an arm…. And you.. you were blind. Casey was dead. April lead a resistance against the Shredder. You guys also had so many other scars all over you. I-I…. it was all my fault. Then we faced him….. Mickey died first… Then you… and then Raph. I had to watch it happen. Unable to save or help you….. I Felt so useless. Then right after Shredder was defeated, Master Splinter called me back… And you know the rest." He said. Leo looked at his brother. He pulled him into a hug. Don buried his face in his brother's plastron. Silent tears began to fall down his face. Don felt a slight amount of pressure on his shell and looked up. Raph and Mickey were there. Don smiled and closed his eyes. His family was here and they were safe. They were all safe.
