I think we're dancing.
A coherent thought.
And he was right, Joker was soooooo right it made him giggle inside every time the thought crossed his mind. A bad tempered polka, with quick, violent steps and a sick little green melody playing in the background. Eyes on your partner, step a little closer, back away…
Because they depended on each other, didn't they? Because, I mean, you can dance without a partner, but you'd look right daft, now, wouldn't you? More daft than usual. You need someone to, uh, counter your movements. Step in time. Stare into each others' eyes and try not to snarl.
Ah, ah, ah, so maybe it was a tango, then. Never could keep them straight. A lithe pair joined in desperate union, passionate as the black figure pushed Joker into a wall quiet dark alley way could kill him no one to hear your screams and passionate as their lips joined in hothot feverish kisses.
And it was a merry dance indeed, and Joker often found himself wondering why there were any people left in Gotham, seeing as the archenemies seemed to do battle with one another at every meeting. No, not a battle like that (and giggles, thinking of how delightful it would be if they did that as often) but true battle, the Die-Batsy-Die-Underneath-A-Fifty-Ton-Weight-Of-Cement kind of true battle. If there was such a thing. Was there? Because that was almost as fun.
But still, why did the people stick around? This was completely between the two of them, and while he enjoyed the countless slaughter of innocents everyone needs a hobby, darling they did so get in the way.
The two of them…
The sex wasn't love, nah, nah, or they wouldn't admit it even if it was. Just another branch of their relationship, haha, another way of saying Grrr-I-Hate-You love you too. Love and hate (and Joker knew this) were completely and utterly dependent on one another, and the edges had now blurred beyond all possible reclamation. Just debris raining down from the sky, and explosions, and the sudden irresistibleness of the unattainable which was now oh so very attainable forever and ever and ever and ever…
Joker was thrown against the wall now, like so many other times.
"I told you we'd be doing this forever." He giggled, grinning lopsidedly up at Batman from the gritty floor.
"Shut up."
Batman's lips roughly covered his own, and Joker laughed and laughed and laughed through the heat.
"Forever."
