Chapter 1: Be Mine
September 8th 08:00
Greg awoke to the irritating repetitive bleeping of his alarm at 08:00 that morning. As he had already put it on snooze twice that morning Greg figured that now may actually be a decent time for him to drag himself out of bed. He'd only managed to get five hours of sleep after all; he'd once again 'forgotten' to do all his summer work and so had had to write eight essays in the space of three days, hence staying up till three that morning.
He had to look presentable today, it was his first day of year 12 and he had to make a good impression on the rest of the students. After his mother having dragged him around suit shopping he supposed that he should look decent, of course she only wanted him to do well this year. The school regulation stated that all boys had to wear suits and so he had bought a few of them. Of course the rules didn't state colours.
Although Greg was sorely tempted to wear one of his more outrageous suits, he decided he best play it safe today and instead went for the basic grey skinny with a fluorescent green tie and black studded belt.

After traipsing down to the bus stop in the September sun of the morning, Greg had ten minutes to spare before his bus arrived to ferry them off to Archbishop Lanfranc High School. A couple of minutes after him playing Flappy Bird on his phone, Greg noticed Josh Stapleton and Steve Palmer trudging down the road towards him. After spending the last five years on the same bus as the two boys, the three had formed a close friendship and had all opted to come back for sixth form together.
Neither of the other lads were up to much talking at this time of the morning and so when the bus finally arrived, they all sat in amicable silence for the majority of the journey only speaking to exchange greetings and caffeinated energy drinks to keep them awake for the remainder of the day. It would seem that Greg was certainly not the only one to have left all his work to the last minute. Again.

On going to his locker as soon as he got into school Greg was riffling through the contents of the tip, that he most certainly had not bothered to sort out before the holidays, in order to find his Biology and Physical Education folders (that he had cunningly put there earlier so he wouldn't have to carry them into school) Greg found a random envelope stuck to the left wall of his locker. Feeling fairly sure that it wasn't something that he'd left in there by mistake, Greg open it to find a plain white piece of cardboard with the message ' Dear Gregory, P.T.O.'. written on it in some form of calligraphy. Feeling obliged to follow the instructions on the note, Gregory flipped the cardboard over only to find a green love heart taped to the other side.
A small smile tugged at his lips, Greg hadn't seen these since primary school when all the boys who were too scared to 'ask a girl out' would leave them on their seats for them to find. Knowing that if he looked on the other side of the sweet he would find a message Greg carefully peeled off the cellotape and turned over the love heart. Expecting to see a playful joke like the 'hunk' one he'd received from Josh before Greg was suprised when he saw the message that every primary school girl dreamt about: 'Be Mine'.
