The Winner Takes it All
His fingers lightly traced the contours of her rouged lips as he wordlessly closed the distance between them. They had no need for words to communicate. His light gaze fell upon hers, a myriad of emotions conveyed within that moment. She knew she was blushing; could feel the heat rising whilst the hair on her neck prickled. His mere touch seared her skin as she arched her back, leaning into him, her body hungering for more. Her mouth searched for his, as she placed her Siren's Kiss upon his lips, marking him as her own forever.
There had been others…Jake, Nathan, Brooke to name a few. So many reasons why they should not be together; reasons they were better off forgetting one another. Yet there was the overriding reason they should – the current display of sheer unapologetic passion. Experiences with other people were just that – experiences. It was only when they were together, and he held her in his strong embrace that the jigsaw pieces fit and Peyton felt like she was coming home. Her world had been dull in nuances of grey until Lucas had come along and plugged it into technicolour. He was her sunshine; her raison d'être.
Long sprightly digits danced across his skin and caressed his features, committing them to memory. They had wasted so much time, and as much as Peyton longed to make up for it, she equally didn't want to forget anything. Lucas was too important to be frivolous over. His scent pervaded her senses as she was rendered paralysed by his every touch, little knowing when or if the opportunity to be together again would occur.
"I love you, Luke." she mumbled into the collar of his shirt, avoiding his gaze and wanting Lucas to remember her as the confident ambitious girl she was, not as an overemotional sap.
Nestled into his torso, she almost missed his sigh as he reiterated her words. "I love you too, Peyton."
Waking up with the memory of his kiss burnt into her mind, a coldness stole over Peyton as she realised Lucas was not there. Just as it had everyday since he had left her permanently in this state of despair, her heart splintered into a million shards. Desperately reaching out for her cellphone, her fingers numbly worked through her phonebook before finally finding the one she wanted.
"Haley? Got a sec?"
