There was an area covered in complete darkness. It used to permeate light to whatever needed it. It was needed now, but it was no longer able to give.

"Santana?" Brittany called.

"Yeah?"

"I'm going to leave Artie." Brittany told her. Santana looked up in shock. "I can't be with someone I don't love. I know you're not ready for a relationship but when you are just know that I'm here." Santana smiled and for once it showed in her eyes.

The light was not needed by everyone. But it was given to everyone. The one that needed the light had used it to melt the ice surrounding their heart. The light needed to remain in order for the heart to the stay free. If the light vanished the heart would succumb to the coldness that beckoned it.

"Hey, San. You know I love you right?" Brittany asked.

"Yeah, I know B." Santana smiled. "I love you too."

"No." Brittany said shaking her head. "I'm in love with you."

"I know."

Once the light was gone the ice returned. Only now it was stronger and radiated more coldness than ever before.

"Santana, for the next glee assignment-." Rachel Berry began to a scowling latina.

"Berry. Shut the fuck up. I don't care about you or this stupid glee club. You could all kill yourselves and I wouldn't care. In fact, why don't you? You'd be doing me a huge favor." Santana shouted out ignoring the shocked faces of the glee club.

"Look." Mr Shuester began. "I know things haven't been the same since-."

"You don't know anything." Santana whispered. She turned around and walked out.

As the heart got colder and heavier the pressure began to build. Soon it cracked.

"Why! Why did you do this? Why did you leave me?' Santana whispered to herself as she pulled her hair. "Why did you leave me? You said you'd be with me forever. I needed you and you left me. Why?" She dragged her hands down her arms leaving red scratches. She hoped the pain would make her forget. It didn't. Nothing did.

The heart continued to crack more and more until one day it shattered

"I can't do this." Santana cried out. "I can't live without you. I need you. You're not here so I can't be here. I'm doing this for the both of us. So that we can finally be together."

The heart stopped beating that night

Santana Lopez was found the next morning. She was hanging from the ceiling. A noose around her neck. A noose that allowed her to finally be with the one that she loved.
