Gem: This is semi-old. I read someone's story about Inuyasha's birthday (credit towards whoever's story that was) and then I read another story about Inuyasha proposing (credit towards that person too) and this is what came up. I only own the idea.
Inuyasha was sitting in his favorite spot again. Kagome had gone home and forbidden him to even come get her for a few hours. But she wouldn't tell him why. All he wanted to know was why. Naraku was destroyed so he didn't really need to drag her back to the Feudal Era for shard hunting.
"Though I could make up a reason why she should be here."
What was she doing? She had mentioned something about birthdays though.
"Mine's sometime in the late summer. I don't know the exact date though. Sometimes, I wish I did."
Sometimes he wished that he'd had a happier childhood but he knew that ever since he'd met Kagome, his heart had been on the mend. He knew that otherwise he may never have met Kagome.
"Why does everything I think about come back to her?"
"Inuyasha!"
Grinning like an idiot, he lept out of the God Tree and ran towards her voice. It was such sweet music to his ears. He would love her until the end of the earth and he honestly wanted to know what she bought him. While his mind was on the topic of honesty, he had snuck into her house late one night and talked to her mother about marriage. Kagome's mom had given him permission and took him shopping for a ring during one of the times Kagome was at school. He didn't know when her birthday was either but Inuyasha knew he loved Kagome with all his heart.
"There you are," she said. "I didn't know when anyone's birthday was but I brought presents for everyone. I want to give you your present now though."
She pulled out a small box from a pocket in her backpack. It was wrapped in some type of paper. Inuyasha wasn't quite sure what it was.
"Here. Happy birthday," Kagome said as she handed the gift to Inuyasha.
"Thanks," he muttered shyly.
He pulled off the paper and found a box. Being very careful, he opened the box and found another smaller box. What on earth could be in there? Inuyasha opened the last box to find a gold locket. It was absolutely beautiful.
"Open the locket up," prompted Kagome.
He did so and inside took his breath away. On one side was a picture of him sleeping in the God Tree with a very peaceful expression while the other was one of Kagome sitting on the lip of the well in the Feudal Era. When did she get that picture done? The girls must have done it on one of their bath trips.
"I don't know what to say," he admitted but in his mind he knew it was beautiful.
Kagome knew that he didn't need words; she could see it in his eyes. He definitely loved it. Taking the box from him gently, she pulled out the locket and clasped it around Inuyasha's neck.
"Kagome, I have something for you too. But this is the wrong spot. Close your eyes."
She closed her eyes and felt Inuyasha pick her up bridal style. She could feel him running somewhere but she wasn't sure where. Too soon for her own liking, he put her down.
"You can open them now."
She opened her eyes to see him kneeling on one knee with a box in his hands.
"Kagome, will you marry me?"
His eyes looked so hopeful and so afraid of being rejected that he wasn't prepared for Kagome to tackle him.
"Yes," she answered with a huge smile on her face. Then she took note of the surroundings. "You wanted it to be perfect didn't you?"
"Yes. And what better place than where we first met?"
Gem: Okay, yes random. But I was bored and I have 6 and ½ hours to kill right now. Please tell me what you think. Flames will be used to make my Ramen.
