It was Valentines Day, and Krystal Carey couldn't be more annoyed with the idea of people celebrating love. All it did was remind her of the past she had with Tad. She loved him with all her heart, and had blown it all with her lies. Krystal knew she was cursed in the love department. It had been that way since Babe was born. The first moment that she held Babe in hear arms she knew she would do anything for her child. That anything, meant losing the only man who had ever truly treated her the way she deserved. The only man, who had ever loved her.
Krystal groaned, finally managing to roll herself out of bed. She was tired of feeling sorry for herself. She needed to just forget about Tad and move on with her life. That is, what little life she had left. The only friends she had were her own daughter, and David. Everyone else in Pine Valley would rather die than associate with the likes of Krystal. Krystal understood though. She'd hurt Bianca, the girl that the whole town loved most. It was only logical for everyone to turn her back on her after she did that. Krystal was soon drawn out of her impending thoughts by the sound of the telephone ringing in her ear. Who the heck would be calling this early, Krystal thought. She picked up the phone, and it was then that her question was answered.
"David", Krystal confirmed in her sweet, southern drawl. "What is it?"
"It's that ex boyfriend of yours", David said, obviously annoyed. "He's demanding to see you. Says that he wants to talk about what happened last night."
Krystal gasped, taken aback that Tad actually wanted to speak with her. They had shared a brief, but nice kiss the night before, although she had made it clear to Tad that she didn't want him wasting anymore of his time on her. Krystal smiled despite herself, wondering if he had decided not to take no for an answer. That sounded like Tad. He always was defiant.
"Ok David", Krystal spoke back to him. "Tell Tad I'll be right over."
Krystal placed the phone back down on its receiver and started to get dressed. She picked out a sexy, yet suitable, black silk dress. Then she slid on her coat, grabbed her car keys, and drove off in anticipation. When Krystal reached David's cabin, the thought finally occurred to her of why Tad would want to meet her here. Tad hated David Hayward. It was hard to believe that he would be caught anywhere near him. Krystal dismissed the thought from her mind and started on up to David's cabin. She gently knocked on the door and waited for what seemed like eternity. Their was no answer.
"Tad…", Krystal called out. "You in there?"
Still no answer. At this, Krystal began to get a little nervous. Tad wasn't the kind to bail out on people. Deciding to take matters into her own hands, Krystal shoved the door open and decided to have a look around. She had only made it as far as the kitchen when she felt a sharp pain on the back of her head…then, her world went black.
