While walking in Aerobics this morning, I was listening to my iPod on Shuffle. Several of the songs (parts of them, at least) that played reminded me of XME. This is one of them.
Kitty-centric reflection, set sometime after "Grim Reminder."
Notes: Short!
Spoilers for "Grim Reminder!"
I own nothing.
Mysterious, that's what I call you;
I'm curious about you.
I'm scared and not sure that you are safe,
but your eyes seem to say that you are good.
--From Rebecca St. James's "Lion"
She had been confused by him at first, his gruff manor and lone-wolf-like tendencies.
But she had also been curious.
Just who was this guy with the indigo hair who called himself Logan?
Where was he from?
Was Logan his first or last name?
Why was he always so crabby?
And what was up with that incessant grunting??
Her curiosity, as the saying went, could have killed her.
She had learned early on not to cross the Wolverine.
His anger management issues had almost gotten her into trouble. Granted, one time it had been the chip in his brain making him crazy, but still. The man was perpetually grouchy.
And speaking of that adventure, that was also when Kitty had learned Wolverine's secret: as annoyed as he seemed by the kids at the Institute, he really did care about them.
She had seen it his eyes, the way he fought the chip and resisted hurting her. His remorse when he thought she'd gone over the cliff had come as almost a surprise, but it was the turning point in their relationship, she mused.
That was the day she had finally seen through Logan's façade, the day she had realized he was a sensitive, loyal person and not just the grumpy instructor who liked to challenge his students' physical (not to mention emotional) abilities.
Now, when she looked into Mr. Logan's eyes, she saw him for the man he was.
Sure, he was cranky and violent, but there was a tame side to him: the protective, paternal side that made him one of the good guys.
And that was the only reminder she needed.
Notes: Mer. I'm not sure about this one, but… Whatever.
Influences, Borrowed Ideas, and Other Random Crap:
"Lion" is from the Music Inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia CD. Technically, it's Lucy's (I think) thoughts on Aslan, but… whatever! This part worked for Kitty on Logan. Right?
"Grim Reminder" mostly.
Potentially a few fics; I'm too lazy to figure out which ones.
Words: 273
Time: A couple of hours.
Other: Uhhh… I'm still working on Enlightenment, Lucky, and several others. Hah.
