A/N: As it's my birthday today, I thought I'd write a fluffy little one shot about my two favourite HP characters Ginny and Luna. It's not brilliant, but I hope you like it =)

"Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear Luna…" A small girl with dirty blonde hair was singing as she sat alone at a table in the library. She trailed off with a sigh, letting her eyes wander around the large room.

She'd been hiding up in the library most of the day, most of her birthday to be exact, and yet not a single person had come over to see her. It wasn't like she wasn't used to being ignored though, in fact many people tended to avoid her. Nevertheless, she couldn't help but feel her heart sink a little as she sat alone humming quietly to herself.

Luna looked down at the crumpled note clutched in her left hand and smoothed it out on the table to reread it for the tenth time that day.

Dear Luna

I hope you like your present; I have one just like it. Now you can reveal yourself as a true believer of The Hallows to everyone at Hogwarts. Maybe you'll gain some more new friends that way.

Happy birthday my little princess.

Loves of love

Daddy.

More new friend Her mind scoffed as she glanced over her fathers writing once more. They're more likely to avoid you even more.

The petite witch lifted a hand to play with the necklace she'd thrown around her throat. It was made up of a piece of simple black chord with what looked like an oddly shaped eye hanging from the end. Upon closer inspection, the eye turned out to be a symbol: A circle inside a triangle with a line dividing them down the middle. Although Luna had been pleased to receive the sign of the Hallows as a gift as she had heard many stories of them from her father, she was sure that all the other Hogwarts students would either not know what it was or else think she was even more loony than they already believed. Luna had been so wrapped up in her own thoughts that she didn't notice the presents of another young girl beside her until a small hand was waved up and down in front of her face.

"Hey! Luna! Hello? Anyone in there?"

The silvery eyed witch turned her head and was surprised when she came face to face with a grinning Ginny Weasley.

"Finally!" The red head said in a mock exasperated voice "You had me worried there Luna, I thought a gang of Wrackspurts had invaded your brain! Why are you hiding up here anyway? I've been looking for you all day!"

The blonde smiled at her freckled friend "I just felt like being on my own for awhile"

"On your own on your birthday? Silly. How was I supposed to give you your present if you were hiding from everyone?"

Ginny reached into her bag and pulled out a little packet wrapped hastily in a page of today's Daily Prophet with a few holes poked in here and there.

"Yeah, sorry about the wrapping. Didn't have anything else"

But Luna didn't care. She happily took the present and tore the paper off to reveal a bright violet little hairball in a cage.

"It's a Pygmy Puff!" Ginny explained brightly. "You know, like mine, except yours is a girl. I remember you saying how cute you thought Arnold was so I wrote to Fred and George so I could get you one for your birthday."

"She's sweet" Luna beamed "Thank you Ginny, I didn't think anyone remembered"

"Of course I remember!" The red head replied blushing slightly "How can you forget your best friends' birthday?"

Ginny had barely finished her sentence when the shorter girl jumped on her in a surprise hug. Slightly taken aback, Ginny wrapped her arms tightly around her friends' waist and squeezed her back. After a short while the two girls parted and Luna sat back on Ginnys' knees.

"You're amazing Ginny" The blonde whispered, planting a quick kiss upon the red heads lips.

"As are you Luna" The freckled girl giggled back. "Happy birthday"
