"So have you ever tried it?" Anna asked with a smiled quickly spreading across her face.
Johanna shook her head. "No I haven't."
"You should," Leslie smiled tucking her feet under her as she shifted her position on the bedroom floor.
"Yeah what good is a sleep over if we don't do something exciting?" Dawn asked holding the computer out to Johanna.
"I'm not sure about this," Johanna said looking around at her friends.
"Aren't you curious what it has to say about you?" Dawn asked. "We all looked up ourselves."
"I only got things about my dad," Leslie shrugged. "Nothing special."
Johanna glanced between her three friends and let out a sigh. "Fine I'll look," She relented taking the laptop from Dawn. Bringing up the internet, Johanna typed in the desired web address. The familiar Google logo had been changed for the upcoming holiday and the girls all took a moment to admire it before continuing on their task.
"Type in your name," Dawn pointed to the screen.
Johanna clicked on the search bar and carefully typed out her name, Johanna Martha Beckett Castle. Glancing at her friends she slid her finger across the touch pad and clicked on search. The computer hummed with life as the page refreshed bringing information from around the world to the screen. The girls giggled with excitement and gathered closer beginning their reading. A few moments went by before their giddy faces turned to looks of horror.
"Jo, these all say murder," Leslie whispered first. The more they scrolled down the more links they saw all stating the same thing. Pages upon pages all stating that Johanna Beckett had been murdered.
"What are you girls up to?" Kate asked with a smile from the doorway as she watched her daughter and friends gathered around the computer. They all looked to her when she spoke each as white as a sheet.
"Mom is it true?" Johanna asked almost in a whisper. "Grandma Jo was murdered? That's why she's not here."
Kate felt like someone had punched her in the stomach. "Who-who told you that?" She managed to ask around the lump in her throat.
Johanna's bottom lip quivered as she pointed to the computer screen. "Is it true?"
Kate took a deep breath and attempted to steady herself. "Yes, I'm sorry baby."
