I own nothing and I suck at endings (sorry!)

He was awoken by a jump in the bed. Looking over to his side, he saw her sitting upright wrapped in numerous blankets, holding them tight around her body. She was shaking, sweat beading down her forehead as she hurriedly looked around. She let the sheets fall around her and put a palm to her chest, attempting to control her ragged breathing.

"Lin? Are you alright?" Tenzin sat up and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Yes, yes I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Go back to sleep okay? I'm fine I promise." Lin said with a shaky smile and he didn't buy it.

"Lin..." He started as she looked away from him, closing her eyes tight. He attempted to get her to look at him but she slapped his hands away instead.

"I said I'm fine Tenzin. I just can't sleep." She interrupted him coldly.

"Now we both know that's not true. What's wrong?" He asked her, successfully taking her face in his hands this time, forcing her to look him in the eyes.

"Did something happen at work?" He continued to ask when she stayed silent. "You know, you only shake like this when you have..."

"Don't you dare say it. I hate that word." Lin interrupted with clenched teeth.

"Nightmares." He said as she covered her ears and cringed. "I know, I know you hate what you can't control but it might help if you talk about it..."

"Talk about it? Talk about it? What good is that going to do? It won't help her come back that's for sure. It won't stop the criminals responsible from doing wrong again. She's gone forever and they never stop. Nightmares are just evil, always reminding me that I was and always will be powerless against what happened. They just remind me that I couldn't do anything when it really counted." Lin ranted quickly before calming down a bit.

"Lin, you're still shaking. Look, I know exactly what you're talking about, believe me I do. But, maybe the reason it's still haunting you like this is because you can't see what your dreams can actually do for you. You saw what you did wrong that day right?" Lin nodded and he continued. "Use that. Make this horrible negative into a positive. When you face these guys again or anyone like them, you can be better and win. What happened sucked, it was horrible, I know but she wouldn't want you to be tormented by life like this, she would want you to go find those guys and show them that a Beifong is not to be messed with. You can use this to your advantage Lin. You may not have been able to see it before, but you can." He finished and saw her eyes soften a bit.

"You're right. As much as I hate to say it, you're right Airhead. You know what? Tomorrow I'm going to get a team together and we are going to make those sorry sons of bitches pay for even thinking about messing with the metalbending police in the first place." Lin said strongly and he smiled at her.

"Nice to see that you're getting back to your normal self. Now in order to do all that, you need some rest. Let's go to sleep okay?" Tenzin told her, gently pulling her to lay down.

"Okay, I guess you're right again. I hate it when that happens." Lin said with a small smile. The airbender laughed and kissed her gently.

"Just sleep love, dream about finding them and making them pay." He said, pulling her close to him.

"Definitely. Now hush, I got strategies to dream up." Lin said before she drifted off to sleep. He kissed her forehead before falling asleep himself, both readying themselves for what was to come.
