a/n I am just a writing machine this week. Maybe it was the coffee. Oh, wonderful Coffee, I worship you.
Chapter 1.
Harry sat frozen in front of his garden. It wasn't really his but he was the only one who worked on it. The thin bespectacled boy in his oversize clothes had bruises all over his body but was so covered in grime you couldn't see them. He had bright green eyes, that would have been bright, had they not been dulled in pain. His black messy hair shaded his eyes so you couldn't see them. He was sitting on his feet and was unnaturally still. His eyes were glued to the snake in front of him.
Red next to black
Friend of Jack.
Red next to yellow
Can kill a fellow.
This snake was poisonous and looked quite comfortable where it was. How was Harry supposed to move without getting bitten? Maybe he could back away slowly. An angry voice stopped him before he could even begin.
§Foolish human, go away before I bite you! You have interrupted my nap…§
He looked around quickly wondering if Dudley was trying to play a trick on him. Then he realized and Harry couldn't believe it! The voice was coming from the snake!
§Are you talking to me?§He questioned quietly his eyes wide.
§Do you see any other foolish humans about?§Harry blushed at his stupidity. §Never mind that, you are speaking with me. What is so special about you that allows you to speak with me? I see nothing extraordinary about you. I am going back to my nap. Do not wake me with your odd scavenging. My name is Doku by the way. It means Poison. Keep that in mind.§
As it was slithering further into the shade and away from Harry's 'odd scavenging', he whispered §My names Harry.§
And that's how Harry met Doku. It has been five years since that fateful day. Harry now regularly went to Doku for advice. Doku referred to him as Ash. He had told Harr- er Ash that he shouldn't go by such a common name. So He tried to think of himself as Ash.
Ash's relationship with his family was horrible. He was hit and yelled at, to make it worse, his uncle… touched him… in bad places and made him do yucky things. Ash felt dirty. His aunt often used his head for target practice and her shrill voice couldn't have been worse on the ears. Dudley was just a bully, though he couldn't often catch Ash. When Doku found out about the abuse, he was livid. He had wanted to kill them all, but Ash had convinced him otherwise. He only had to wait until he was eleven after all. Doku had told him about the magical world when he turned seven. He was nine now.
Ash was lonely though. The only one who had ever been nice to him was Doku. He couldn't wait to go to Hogwarts. It would all get better then!
