Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

inextinguishable

some things come out of nowhere
like the weasley/potter clan, for instance
one day, you're just draco malfoy's son (or mini stunt double, no one really cares.)

the next, your albus potter's best mate, and he introduces you to his cousin, rose weasley.

looking back, that day either made or broke your life
she hates you at first (it was sort of obvious)
somehow, you get her to come out of her shell of death glares and obnoxious hair flips and annoyed huffs

that's when the fire really comes out
it curls from the tips of her flaming hair, smokes out of her ears
the only thing that saves you from burning is the clear, {blue} pool inside her eyes

(her eyes are quite nice whenever they aren't blazing and narrowed, you realize.)

things only escalate from there
some days she slams her book on your hands
and you wonder why am I even trying?

but other times,
you stare at her mouth, her (somehow cute) nose
and life isn't even imaginable without her there, reminding you to do your potions homework

&&maybe you love her
&&maybe you hate her
but does it really matter?

both equal the same thing—
stay away from that rose weasley, scorpius
(in the words of your father.)

anyway, it's your fifth-year
(o.w.l. year, she never fails to remind you)
studying consumes all your time, and you can't fit "sort out feelings about rose weasley" on the schedule

you just keep up the game of charades
pretending that she doesn't even deserve a second glance
in the middle of sixth year, albus figures out the rules of the game

and boy, is he mad.

you thought rose was scary?
albus freaks out, and he nearly kills you (his mother has taught him well)
those weasley/potters sure are protective of each other, you think

eventually, he calms down
(there's no one better for her, mate) you wish you could believe him

it's two against one
surely rose will give in soon, just kiss you
by your seventeenth birthday, it's obvious that she won't

so you decide to cheat (you know, how awful, but there's no other option left)

you kiss another girl, and somehow the thought of her, on fire with rage again
makes you smile so wide you have to break off the kiss

(but leila thomas is apparently as clingy as her mother, and it's not long before you're sucked back in.)

she's heartbroken, according to albus. and betrayed.
you don't know where she came up with that, though, because she never let you close enough to betray her

in the middle of your seventh-year, you break it off with leila.

why? they ask
i don't know, you answer
who're you going to date now? they wonder

{no comment}

her mother urges her to, your mother encourages you to
so on her eighteenth birthday, you kiss her, in front of her entire family
(even her dad)

some are clapping
some are hollering
some look ready to kill you (veryvery painfully)

all you see is her, though
she's smiling, those eyes shining at you
(maybe I've actually melted her fire, you think in wonder)

it takes about two more minutes
for you to realize
that rose weasley is absolutely inextinguishable

(those weasley/potter's really are a riot.)
