It was Christmas night and Sherlock Holmes had just solved another mystery. It was a rather peculiar one, about an Indian prince whose elephant had been kidnapped. It turns out that the kidnappers actually made the elephant eat some drugs for safekeeping. 'Idiots on patrol', Sherlock thought. John would have named this one 'The Case of the Drug Swallowing Elephant". Mrs. Hudson called out to him, "Sherlock, Mary and John are here." Sherlock hated Christmas dinners. He would rather be deducing strangers on the road than socialize with people he sees everyday. However, Mrs. Hudson was planning it and he wouldn't want to let her down yet again.

"Ah, John and Mary. Merry Christmas," Sherlock greeted with a fake smile.

"Hello, dear. Had a nice case? An elephant you were talking about. Rather weird wasn't it?" Mary replied ever so lovingly.

"Yes, well, it's better than having no case at all."

As they all settled down, there was a ring on the doorbell. Sherlock deduced that it was Molly from the pressure put on the doorbell and the faint scent of perfume that was in the air.

"Hi, everyone! Sorry I'm late. There was a long line at the loo. Uhh.. I mean..um… nevermind."

"It's okay, Molly. It's always so nice to see you," Mrs. Hudson answered.

Sherlock lifted his face and was so surprised to see Molly in a very revealing dress. He'd never seen a woman that beautiful in his whole life. Sherlock guessed that in other words, he was turned on.

"Hello, Sherlock. Is everything alright?" asked Molly, nervously. Sherlock never failed to make her heart flutter.

Sherlock didn't realize that he was staring at her. "Uh, of course Molly."

Mrs. Hooper laid out the scrumptious food and they all digged in at once. Mary, John and Mrs. Hudson were in a deep conversation about hip replacement therapy, that didn't interest Sherlock at all. All he could do was sit quietly, for once, and secretly stare at Molly Hooper.

"Sherlock, why are you looking at me like that?"

'Shit, she noticed' thought Sherlock. "Me? No.. I was thinking about something else," said Sherlock, almost instantly.

The clock struck 11. Mary and John said their goodbyes and left early. That left poor little Molly Hooper and Sherlock all to themselves.

"Molly, could I interest you in a glass of wine?"

"Sure, Sherlock."

They sat and drank their wine. They chatted for a little while and Sherlock realized something very important that he had been denying for several years now, he was in love with Molly.

"Sherlock, I had a wonderful time. I'm sorry, I have to leave now. Merry Christmas, Sherlock," Molly said quietly.

"Yes, of course." He got up and followed Molly to the door. All of a sudden, he grabbed her hand and she spun and landed in his arms.

He whispered into her ear, "Molly Hooper, I am hopelessly, irretrievably, passionately in love with you."

She lifted her chin slowly and found herself gazing into Sherlock's green eyes. He kissed her on the neck and slowly made his way to her lips. He lifted her up and sat her down on the kitchen table. There, they made out some more, savoring every moment they had together.

Needless to say, they both had a great night.
