Dreams are the best thing that has ever happened to Lourdes since the invasion happened.
Sometimes when she dreams she sees her family. Her mother's soft hands braiding her hair, the scent of her father's cologne, her little sisters soft whispers late at night, long after they were supposed to be in bed and asleep.
The dreams are a blessing and a curse.
Sometimes when the nights are rough, she doesn't dream, and the night becomes sleepless, or worse her dreams become too real.
Some nights she dreams of Jamil.
Soft kisses and sweet caresses, and it feels so real. When she wakes there are tears in eyes and her hands are clutched together making them look like she was praying.
But she doesn't pray anymore.
Dr. Glass gives her the most irritating look sometimes. Anne looks at her with such sadness, and a hint of understanding, that makes Lourdes so angry.
Anne doesn't know what it feel like, what this feels like. Lourdes has lost everything, her family, her love, her hope, and most importantly her faith.
God hasn't done anything for her, she realizes, he hasn't for a while.
On the nights that she doesn't have those delicious dreams, that hurt to wake up from, she has nightmares.
At times they get so bad that she wakes up with a start, a scream of some loved ones name on the tip of her tongue but it never pulls through.
She'll dream of Jamil and seeing those things come out of his mouth, or the thought of her home town becoming a complete ghost town no one and nothing left, and on those truly bad nights, she have dreams of her college going up in flames as she and other students run for their lives, screams of all the others who couldn't escape and she has to remind herself not to turn back.
Sometimes she wishes that she were brave. Brave like Maggie, who can just takes what she wants, brave like Hal, who can look 20 skitters in the eyes and still not back down, brave like Captain Weaver, who can lead a over 100 people and not break a sweat.
But she's not very brave now is she?
This story isn't done by the way, this is just the beginning. Please please please read and review, I would love to know everyone's thoughts on this.
Also I have no plan for this story, meaning I have no idea where I'm taking this so everyone's thoughts and reviews and wants for this story make it easier on me to find where this would go
