Reality: A Splash of Dreams

"Kiss me before you go, Ani." She whispered against the dark fold of his tunic.

She felt his smirk from there. "What? Can't get enough of me?"

Tugging at his curly blonde hair in a moment of loving irritation was all she did, "I am serious, Anakin."

His response was to carefully caress her cheek, planting a smooth kiss on it before trailing down to her mouth. Once their lips touched it was like everything could be okay. She felt safe and strong; empowered like she could do anything.

A fiery blaze made the moment even better. The moment was perfect.

"You'll wait for me right? You'll wait?" He asked, brushing his fingers against her chocolate curls.

"Always. Always and Forever." She whispered, her tears falling even before she registered she was crying.

"But promise me, if something happens to me...you'll move on."

"Ani-" she started.

"I am serious, Angel. I would never stop you from having a good life. If something happens to me, I want you to promise me...promise me that you won't spend your life for me."

"I- I promise. I promise. I promise." She chanted, sobbing into his chest.

"Don't worry about me, Angel." He murmured, hugging her tighter, kissing her one last time in her forehead before he let go.

And she watched as he left, his figure disappearing beyond the elevator doors of her Republica. And she felt this burning, where previously contentment was. It hurt.

She went to bed for the lack of energies to continue with her daily work. Sleep didn't come easy, but she really wantedwishedcraved to run away from everything. The war, her duties, even the Republic.

Everything she wanted was Ani. She needed him. He was everything.
