No Reason to Believe
Prompt: Uncertainty...
It was a stupid question, really. He'd never really thought about such a thing, let alone felt such a sentiment. Much emotion was foreign to him, so why would this be any different? He tried time and again to avoid the question by averting his gaze from her curious eyes, to which she'd respond by turning his face back to hers. Clearly, she was trying to coerce him into answering the question, as she'd lean against him, allowing his hair to slip between her fingers.
Mayuri grimaced, wishing she'd stop playing such games. She could torment him all she liked, but he still wouldn't answer. There was no point in answering her question. None at all. At first, he'd deluded himself into thinking that it was love, only to resign himself to the fact that it was nothing more than a simple, albeit pleasing, physical attraction. There was no such thing as love in his experience. Having worked with him for well over a century, she really ought to have known that much.
He was introverted by nature, choosing the solitude of the lab over social engagements. Yet another fact that proved he couldn't answer.
It was irritating the way she continued to toy with him, especially after such a night, choosing to stir natural reactions that he'd never experienced before being with her. She slid herself over his chest, her lips grazing his cheek as one hand began running wildly across his scars.
"Tell me," she whispered, teeth gently tugging at his throat. "Do you believe in love?"
He trembled slightly, hand caught in her dark tresses as she licked him. There was no telling when she'd stop if he continued to hold out like this. It was certain that she could go on far longer than he could. His eyes closed, having finally resigned to her torture.
"Before you, I had no reason to believe."
So cute. Makes my heart melt.
