I know I haven't updated Till Death Do Us Part, I have an idea of where the story is going but with coursework taking over my life and lack of inspiration on how to write my idea down I have neglected that fanfic for the time being. I've also had this saved on my computer for a while as it was an idea that popped into my head and I just had to write it down. I hope you enjoy!
They had just wrapped up a case. Kate was drawing patterns on her stomach hoping to calm the little one down while packing away the photos from the murder board into a box. Rick was making some tea for himself and Kate and Espo and Ryan had volunteered to do the paperwork. Kate had finished packing the things in the box and decided to go to the break room and talk to Rick about tonight. They were going for a meal, just the two of them before the little one arrived in just under 3 weeks. Kate stood at the side of Rick as he finished making their tea. Kate had to cut out the coffee much to her disappoint and Rick had decided he would cut it out too.
"I can't believe the little one is going to be here in 3 weeks" Rick said rubbing Kate's stomach. He was still in complete awe with it all. His dreams come true, he had told Kate that before. But never in a million years did he think they'd get this far and 1 year and 6 months into their relationship they'd be welcoming a 3rd member to their family.
"I know. I don't think I'm going to last that long though. I just want to meet the little bear"
"You're not the only-" Just as Rick spoke a gunshot ripped through the air. Rick instantly moved himself in front of Kate, protecting her as best as he could while he tried to look through the blinds to see what was going on.
"Ri.. Rick what was that?" Kate's voice managed to get out as she questioned Rick. "Can you see anyone?" Just as Rick was about to speak he was cut off be a voice dominating the bullpen.
"I know you're in there. Kate and Rick." They both froze. This person knew both their first names? "Get out here now" The man's voice ripped through the silent bullpen.
