Lennie was semi-conscious, dimly aware his lover had just left his side, when he felt the bathroom light and her shriek assault his senses. He made his way to her as quickly as he could extricate his gangly limbs from sweaty sheets; take the few steps across the clothing littered floor, while trying to imagine what the problem was.
"Anita?" he asked with concern.
She had a hand to her mouth in the classic 'woman frightened by a creature' pose. "Damn Lennie, you have the biggest roaches in all of New York City!"
Seeing as how the offending creature had scurried out of sight moments after the lights came on and was now no where to be seen, Lennie took advantage of the moment to cuddle the naked woman standing in his bathroom.
"Teach you to stay in bed where you belong," he teased, holding her from behind, running his hands over her breasts and belly
"Well, a woman's gotta pee sometime!" she said, wiggling in his hold as his hands fluttered teasingly over her mound and thighs.
"I'll let ya," he said with a smirk, releasing her from his hold.
As she took the two small steps to the toilet, she turned to him and said, "Well?"
"Well, what?" he asked.
"A little privacy?" she suggested, with a shake of her head.
"Privacy?" he asked with a laugh.
"Yeah," she said, her hand held palm up gesturing.
Lennie shrugged his shoulders, turned around and shut the door to the bathroom, shaking his head.
A few moments later, Anita emerged from the bathroom, clucked at the messiness of the bedroom, and then snuggled into the bed next to Lennie.
"Uh Anita?" Lennie said hesitantly.
"Yes?" she answered.
"Can you answer me something?" he asked.
"Sure what?" she asked, thinking she had a good idea what it was.
"After everything we did in this bed tonight, why did you ask me to leave the bathroom when you wanted to take a pee?" he asked sounding a bit bewildered.
"You know, I really don't know why. I guess, I was just feeling a bit overwhelmed just then," she said with a laugh, and then she reached up, kissed him and finally buried her face in his chest. "Hmm, love how you smell," she said just before she drifted back to sleep.
Lennie sighed, kissed the top of her head and arranged himself comfortably around her. Already he'd found that his sharp gangly body somehow blended with her soft curves. They hadn't been lovers long, in fact this was the first night Anita had spent in his apartment, but already he felt something with her he'd never felt before. He felt at peace.
If she loved him knowing everything she did about him and could handle a night in his ugly little apartment with its cockroaches, she was the woman for him. He instinctively held her closer and fell asleep.
