AN: A drabble I wrote back then! I just love James and Lily are the ultimate couple but I ship Lily with a lot of people too. Anyway, enjoy this drabble! :)
Disc. I do not own the characters, they all belong to JK Rowling and her amazing mind.
It was past midnight and Lily couldn't put herself to sleep. It was rather unusual since she was always the first one to finish homework and go to bed but not now – There was an uneasy feeling that she was so restless. 'Holidays,' She thought to herself and sat up straight as she stared out through the window. Normally one would observe the snowflakes falling from the sky but not Lily; perhaps it was her uneasiness that made her see something else. Her green eyes saw memories; memories of her and Petunia. Memories that used to be real but now were only fantasy. They used to be so close – they did everything together, they were each other's best friend. But all of that stopped when she got her Hogwarts letter. They stopped talking, started arguing, stopped letting the snowflakes fall on the tip of their tongues – their relationship crashed.
Maybe she wasn't feeling uneasy or nervous but maybe she was homesick. That warm feeling every time she sees her sister smile at her, the laughter they used to share – she missed those. And now, the holidays seem duller than ever without her sister by her side. She tried many times to rekindle their relationship but alas, she would always fail; which is why she decided not to come home this Christmas. Because she would only feel sad whenever her sister would roll her eyes or pretend as if she weren't there, because she would only ruin Petunia's Christmas and she wouldn't like that. At least in Hogwarts, she has her friends – well, at least some of those who aren't going home to visit their families.
Lily took a deep breath before lying back down on her bed. Her fingers clutching the blankets, her eyes shutting tight. There was silence and nothing else. And for a moment, she felt peaceful. A smile ripped across her face as she tried to make herself comfortable when a loud thump startled her. She immediately looked out through the window and saw snow splattered across it. Outside the premises of Hogwarts were two boys, both who were so familiar to Lily. She narrowed her eyes and tried to read their lips which she was able to do so.
'I think Lily's still awake!'
'As if she cares. It's not like she'll come running down to you when she sees you down here.'
'I think she can see us!'
Lily shook her head at Sirius and Potter who were outside, doing who-knows-what. She looked down once more and saw them wave at her with their gallant smile. She shook her head at the two boys and lay back on her bed. At least in Hogwarts, there's still something – perhaps someone, who can make her smile.
