"Machine'll get it," Lennie said, kissing Anita.

"I'm not available, leave a message," his pre-recorded voice said.

"Hi it's Celia. Where've you been? Haven't seen you in weeks. I've missed you. Bring your handsome self over and I'll show how much."

Anita's expression told him he was doomed.

"Shall I hit 69 or is she in your little black book? Maybe you call her so often you've memorized it?"

"Baby,"

"Don't you baby me! How many other women are gonna call missing 'your handsome self'?"

"None, I'll get a new phone number tomorrow," he promised as he disconnected the phone.
