Helga Goes International
Hey! Katie Mae here. As an introduction to my new story, Helga Goes International, I thought I'd fill you in on the things that have happened between the end of HA and the start of my story, which begins just before the gang starts the 11th grade.
First of all, Helga has changed. A lot. Physically, emotionally and mentally. Not only is she older (16, almost 17), taller (as tall as Olga), stronger, and different looking (you'll see what I mean in the next chapter), she's had a lot of breakthroughs with Miss Bliss. Now she's come to terms with her not-so-good relationship with her parents. And they've tried to be better at listening to her and paying attention to her. Helga's also built a better relationship with Olga, who is currently living in Hillwood and teaches 4th grade at P.S. 117.
Helga's relationships with her friends have also changed drastically. Gone is the obsession with Arnold; Helga's passion has turned into a deeper sort of love, and with it, an easy friendship has bloomed. Helga and Arnold are practically attached at the hip now, and everyone says that they should go out, even though no one has forgotten the days of P.S. 118, when Helga tormented Arnold. Helga regularly hangs out with Phoebe, Arnold and Gerald, and they have a band together. Helga's the singer/songwriter and guitarist; Arnold plays bass, Gerald's the drummer, and Phoebe's on keyboard. They play at parties, and occasionally do a set at the café nights held at their high school, Hillwood Central HS. Helga's also been a lot nicer to her other classmates, and rarely does she punch anyone.
Helga's no longer the anti-social girl she used to be. She's had a few boyfriends (all from other schools) and she's the star catcher of Hillwood Central's softball team. She loves to sleep late, like any teenager, but she occasionally goes on long runs to clear her head, like Miss Bliss advised her to do.
As you can plainly see, Helga is a lot different. It's these differences that caused the unfortunate incident that took place just before Helga started 11th grade, when her whole world was turned upside down…
