Never East (Dissolution of Prussia)
'West..' Gilbert Beilschmidt had always wondered why there was never an East. Though geographically, he was, his position was never given significance by the West, his brother, Ludwig Beilschmidt. But in the fall of Berlin Wall, would he finally realize why?
Author's note:
Yes, I know the German brothers care for each other but- just read the story to get it. And no, this is not Germancest. And I'm sorry if it is not entirely Historically accurate. I just get info from the web since we have no History class only Social Studies and I have to be in 3rd Year Highschool to experience History class. I'm only in sixth grade -_-
One
Two
Three..
His reddish-purple eyes gazed the the drops of rain that slid downwards the glass of his window, mentally counting the bigger drops.
It was such a simple little thing, yet it inspired him so much.
Three of them were bigger than the rest, he watched as the drops made a race. It was like every nation. So big, competing with others, the faster they slide, the smaller they get and then finally...
dissolve.
He kept it as a reminder that he, a powerful European country, would end up like the dissolved raindrops.
Because he knew that having too much would result to losing everything.
But he had to keep going no matter what. He had his people, they needed him. He had to fight wars and win all of them as the country itself.
He smiled a little knowing that having something to protect and doing everything for it was just enough.
Years later, he had another thing to protect, his brother Ludwig. What he called 'West'.
During Ludwig's childhood, he took the responsibility of protecting him at all costs. From wars and all that, trying his hardest to balance out Prussia and Germany.
Now that was when his realization came to him.
Like the raindrop, he was moving, downwards. Getting smaller each time.
Questions soon then came to his head, wondering why he was never his brother's East.
Maybe he was before, back when Ludwig was a child. He had proved all his power to him. But what happened now? where did all the power go?
Where did all his brother's trust go?
For the third time, he was reminded of the raindrops.
He looked at the Berlin Wall, broken into pieces, signifying his reunification with his brother.
Signifying, that he, as the one who resembled the big raindrop, had now dissolved.
And that's why maybe,
He was never the East in his brother's eyes to begin with.
-End-
