"You're in love with her, aren't you?" Hikaru's voice was calm and detached.

"I could say the same to you," Tamaki's fists were clenched.

Both of them turned towards Haruhi who was talking earnestly with Kyouya. However, Hikaru's calculating eyes were not resting on Haruhi, but on Kyouya…

"You don't think..." He trailed off when he realized Tamaki only had eyes for his love.

"Think what?" Tamaki spoke without moving his eyes from Haruhi.

"Kyouya."

One word. One name. That's all it took for Tamaki to open his eyes to the harsh realities of love.

He saw Kyouya leaning in ever so slightly towards her, peering over his glasses at her, and lightly touching her.

"We can't let this happen." Hikaru rose angrily.

"Not we, I," said Tamaki firmly. "I can't share her. She will be mine."

Hikaru watched as his king called over Haruhi. She floated over and Tamaki grabbed her by the shoulders.

"Haruhi," he whispered, "I love you."

Tamaki closed his eyes and pressed his lips to hers. When Haruhi molded her body to his, a musical twinkling sounded in his ear. As he struggled to lift his heavy eyelids, Haruhi vanished and light streamed past his half-open eyes.

Tamaki's wandering hand found his alarm clock and the memories of paradise drifted forever from his mind.

A/N: here's the note I wrote to my friend explaining it:

"Oh, Tamaki! You didn't really think he'd be that brave in real life, right? When I started, I didn't plan it to be a dream, but as I wrote, I realized perhaps Tamaki's subconscious realizes that he loves her and so does Hikaru and perhaps even Kyouya, but Tamaki's subconscious does not want to let Tamaki's conscious know. Deep, huh?"
