I sometimes wish I had never gotten this job. Other times, I feel very lucky and fortunate. No matter how I feel about it, this place will haunt me for the rest of my life.

My dad had gotten into an accident. He was very injured and to make matters worse, he was also in a coma. That ment terrible news for me. You see, I only live with my dad and he's responsible for earning money and taking care of me. I, only being in 8th grade, cannot do anything about it. If no one in my family wants to take care of me, I'll have to get adopted.

A group of police men took me to a room where there was a very tall and slim woman. She dismissed the men leaving only me and her. She looked through some paper work being very, very quiet. I didn't want to say anything since I knew it was serious matter. Instead, I looked around. The woman was sitting in a tan, wooden desk. On the desk was a plant, a black coffee mug, papers, and the latest computer. On the walls hung various paintings, and awards of the women. I couldn't see what the awards were for since I had poor eyesight. The woman was wearing a black suit made for woman. She looked like she was in her late 30's and was very pretty. After a very long time, she finally broke the silence.

"I know this might be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to help you." she said. "My name is Bethany Faye and you are Michelle, am I right?"

I nodded.

"You are aware of the situation your in," she began. "Your dad is in a very bad position right now and jugding by his health, he might not come back from his coma."

I cringed and felt very uneasy.

"Where's your mom?" she asked me.

"Mexico. She left me and my dad and took all her family members too..." I told her.

"You don't have any family members from your dad's side here?"

"No. My uncle recently died from desease and my sister lives in El Salvador."

Ms. Faye took a very deep sigh like she was in disbelief. I felt the same way. Why must my life be this complicated?

"Honey, I'm afraid we have no choice but to put you in another fa-"

"NO!" I screamed at her. "Please don't! I don't want to live with people I don't know! If there's no way to keep my family, I'd rather live on my own!" tears started rolling down my face. "Please, there must be a way to keep him, there must..."

Ms. Faye stared at me blankly. She took another sigh and decided to do something about it. She walked to the door.

"Stay here, I'll be back." she said quietly.

I waited. And waited. And waited.

When she finally returned, she told me something I could not bilieve.

"There is an alternative, but you may not like it."

I stared at her.

"You'll have to get a job, and help your dad's life support. You'll have to live on your own untill your dad either heals or passes away. We'll figure out things from there. Understood?"

I nodded. I never felt so happy in my entire life. I thanked Ms. Faye and she escused me from her room. The group of policemen took me back home and the moment we reached it, I was searching for the perfect job.

After hours of searching, I found something that intrigued me.
