A/N: I once closed my eyes in class and tried to convince myself and everyone else I was invisible. That plus the thought of the Hunger Games and reading limericks in my spare time…And this was born. :-) My bud PGC and I collaborated with this, so it's partially hers too. Enjoy!
THE BALLAD OF STEVE OF DISTRICT THREE – THE 42nd HUNGER GAMES
There once was a tribute from Three,
In the next Hunger Games he would be.
He was a stupid guy,
And enjoyed French fries,
And thought he knew invisibility.
The games started
And he farted.
But he closed his eyes
Thinking, "If I can't see them,
They can't see me!"
The other tributes ran
Towards the Cornucopia and then
Forgot about Steve
And dove for the cheese
And swords they could use for defense.
During this Steve just stood
With his eyes closed. And he would
Just think to himself,
"I'm in really good health,
And if I could stay like this, I would!"
After many of the tributes died
Steve decided to open his eyes
He was alone
Surrounded by stone
And he decided that he should hide.
To the Cornucopia he ran
Almost tripping over a bean can
He sat down on the floor,
Closed his eyes once more,
And fell asleep beside some Spam.
Many days after the start
The last tribute got a spear to the heart
Down to the earth she fell
And no one could tell
If she was the winner or not.
Then Steve woke up and walked out
(And to the surprise of the crowd)
The Gamemakers spotted him
And slapped each other for not noticing
The Three tribute had been hiding from the start.
Steve went back to his home,
"The new victor," as he was known.
He was asked how he won,
And he said with a smile like the sun,
"Invisibility's a good thing to know."
